Grids all set for the start of tomorrows ADAC Ravenol 24H Nurburgring (UPDATED)
Friday, June 20, 2025
The qualification sessions for this weekend’s ADAC Ravenol 24H Nurburgring from the Nurburgring Nordschleife are now over after its earlier delay and it’s been a great showing from the four Aston Martin Raving Vantage GT3 crews competing within the top-flight SP9 Pro classes.
With the Walkenhorst Motorsport team putting up three of those entries and the locally based Prosport Racing team the fourth, all have qualified their cars comfortably within the top twenty ahead of tomorrow’s wave off.
Originally listing one hundred and forty-one multi-classed entries ahead of this weekend’s event, five of those entries have not made it through to this stage of the event with the Top Qualifying session being delayed for the necessary clean up and barrier repairs after a sizeable off for one of the fancied Porsche’s at the start of that afternoon session. Thankfully, the driver was otherwise unhurt and exited the vehicle unaided, but the damage was sufficient to force the withdrawal of that car as well.
The #35 Walkenhorst AMR of the newest factory driver in Christian Krognes paved the way with a hot lap of 8:16:133 to claim a P8 overall start in his SP9 Pro-Am car that he shares with Nico Hantke, Anders Buchardt and Oliver Soderstrom. Just missing the top ten was the SP9 Pro #34 Walkenhorst car of Nicki Thiim, David Pittard, Mattia Drudi and a double teaming Christian Kroges with their time worthy of a P12 start on tomorrows grid with the colourful children’s charity fundraising #30 SP9 Am Walkenhorst AMR entry of Henry Walkenhorst/Jorg Breuer/Stefan Aust and Christian Bollrath P15 and the #37 Prosport Racing Pro-Am entry of Steven Palette, Marek Bockmann and Nico Bastian P17.
Further down the amended set of qualifying results we get to the five AMR Vantage GT4 crews from both the Walkenhorst Motorsport and Prosport Racing teams again as well as two further cars from the Dorr Motorsport team.
The #169 Dorr SP10 entry of Phil Dorr/Frank Weishar/Michael Funke and Peter Posaval finished best just over one second off pole to start P2 with the #175 Prosport Racing car of Yannik Himmels/Michel Albers/Benjamin Hites and Jorg Viebahn just behind in third. Within the continued SP10 class there were also the two Am entries of the #179 Prosport Racing car of Rolf Scheibner/Peter Sander/Philippe Charlaix and Heiko Hahn in P8 and the #74 Walkenhorst GT4 (SP10) entry of Joshua Hansen/Hermann Vortkamp/Aris Balanian and Jean-Christophe David in P9.
That leaves the sole SP8T entered AMR Vantage GT8R from the Prosport Racing team and their #140 entry of Guido and Maxime Dumarey/Raphael Rennhofer and Marcel Marchewicz who finished their qualifying sessions P4 in class.
Obviously, with a circuit like the Nurburgring-Nordschleife usually living up to its ‘Green Hell’ mantra – these positions will not necessarily mean a lot come the start of the race tomorrow afternoon.
Update
Some inevitable post qualifying sessions penalties have now been applied which sees the #35 Walkenhorst car disqualified from the results of the Top Qualifying session for ride height irregularities. They have been placed at the back of the lead group but the effects of this and other penalties also sees the #34, #30 and #37 Aston Martins move up two places each.
