Feathers Motorsport finally claim the GTH Class championship in GT Cup
Despite losing each of the two solo driven sprint races and the two pit stop and driver change punctuated endurance rounds this weekend to the charging #30 Innovation Racing with Cresta Ginetta G55 GT4 crew, the #82 AMR pairing’s quartet of GTH Class podium finishes (plus their fifty odd point championship advantage) was still enough for the young duo to claim the GTH Championship at the end.
The team and crew also finish fourth within the Overall Drivers Championship having lead it on merit at one stage earlier this season.
There were further AMR powered successes this weekend as the #95 Oselli Motorsport AMR Vantage GT4 EVO of Matt Eddolls and Sam Maher-Loughan also enjoyed their best race weekend yet with their new car as the started with a P4 in class for the first sprint race on Saturday before improving that to a P3 finish within the next endurance round on Saturday before claiming another pair of P3 finishes in class over the two races on Sunday.
They in turn finish the predicted fourth overall in class and P14 overall for their efforts.

Two AMR Vantage GT4 crews share the class spoils in a weather affected GT Cup meeting at Snetterton
Despite what the provisional entry list may have suggested, there were just the #82 Feathers Motorsport AMR of Archie Clark and Tom Canning as well as the #95 Oselli Motorsport AMR Vantage GT4 Evo of Matt Eddolls and Sam Maher-Loughnan amongst the sixteen strong multi-class grid.
Despite the periodic torrential rains sweeping across East Anglia, the race meeting went on according to schedule although the vast differences on track between the dry spells and that of torrential rain did prove itself to be a timing issue for many crews as to when to make that tyre swap.
Saturdays opening twenty-five-minute sprint race saw the young Clark continue his rich vein of form with another P3 in class finish whilst Eddolls came home with a P4 finish at the beginning of his new Evo car’s second race meeting. As the #82 car struggled with success penalties as well as a post-race five second time penalty for track limits) with the later fifty-minute endurance round, it was the turn of the #95 Oselli car to come home on the podium with a P10 overall/P2 in GTH finish with the #82 crew having to make do with P4 in class.
Sunday finally saw most of the inclement weather fronts pass the circuit by although showers were still a possibility in the blustery conditions for the reversal of the endurance and sprint race format for the day.
The opening 50-minute race this time saw both AMR’s finish on the class podium with the #95 car again pipping the #82 crew (who had to serve a quick stop and go penalty for timing issues with their stop) with their P11 overall / P2 class finish before Clark made amends to that winning the closing sprint race with Eddolls this time making up the final step of the podium in P3.
These results see the Feathers Motorsport crew toppled from their prior top position within the Overall Drivers Championship (falling to fourth), but they do retain a commanding lead within their GTH Class as the championship moves onto Silverstone at the beginning of August.

As the GT3's struggled - the GT4's rejoiced with multiple podium success around the world
Over at the Homestead circuit in Florida had the three new AMR Vantage GT4 crews from the TLM Racing stable take on the opening round of the FARA USA Series as they make the switch from both Porsche and BMW powered machinery to the full GT4 specification Vantage that they are all scheduled to race later within the World Racing League Series.
Featuring to brand new and a former Bsport Racing chassis, the brightly coloured #888 car of father/son line up of Brian and Zang O’Shaughnessy, the #453 car of Jaiden Beckman and Scott Blind as well as the #72 car of Jim Hamman dominate the MP-2a class within the meetings three half hour sprint races as well as Sunday hour long feature race.
A class win, P2 and P4 on Saturday was continued with another P1/P2P4 and P1/P2/DNF over Sunday morning before rounding off their AMR racing debut with another P1/P2 and P4 finish within the final Miami 500 event.
These results should hold all in good stead as they move ahead to the WRL with an expected arrival at Barber in early March.
That success was somewhat matched in southern Europe too as the German based Prosport Racing team finally ventured into what was the third round of the GT Winter Series from Jerez in Spain at the weekend.
Featuring three AMR Vantage GT4’s and some new drivers it was reigning ADAC GT4 Germany Champion Mike David Ortmann who opening the podium haul with a class win in race 1 followed by a debut Aston podium for Irishman Alex Denning in second and a P4 placement for Gabriel Jilkova.
Not quite the same success for race 2 as fellow AMR debutant Charles Clark claimed another P2 podium within the #250 that he shared with Denning before both made it a clean sweep of P2 class finishes in the final endurance race of the weekend.
Yevgen Sokolovskiy aboard the #48 car with Ortmann and Celia Martin aboard the #310 car with Jilkova and Thilo Goos running as a solo driver within the Mucke Motorsport #700 AMR competed the Vantage GT4 crews competing amongst the multi class discipline.

22GT Racing's centrefold DBRS9
22GT Racing's exquisite Aston Martin Racing DBRS9 shall shortly be appearing in the Vantage magazine following a photo shoot at Donington Park this afternoon.
The DBRS9 was brought into service by Aston Martin Racing back in 2005 as a stepping stone to the bigger, more powerful and more expensive DBR9 GT1 car with chassis DBRS9/1 being raced in 2006 by 22GT Racing boss Tom Alexander alongside Tiff Needell in both the European FIA GT3 and British GT series under Barwell Motorsports and 22GT Racing banner.
The car has since been raced every year since then with the last time the car hitting the race track in a competitive spirit at the Aston Martin Racing Festival at the Le Mans 24hr event back in 2015 when Alexander shared the car with Jota Group man David Clarke.
Automotive Stephen Archer drove the car today and the piece will feature in the Vantage magazine some time in the autumn.
