Leroux and Aston Martin Racing win the double again at Singapore GP
Last year driving a Viper Niza Racing prepared Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4, the twenty-one-year-old Frenchman with strong Asian race ties proved dominant within the GTC class last year to win both races.
This year, Leroux returned to the event but this time with the Earl Bamber Motorsport team to do likewise again this weekend with his new #97 AMR Vantage GT4.
Whilst we already know that both the platform and the driver have massive skill and potential – especially when combined, but the real news is of this new association with a predominantly Porsche based team with this chassis with the news from Aston Martin Racing themselves that this relation will extend beyond just this event.
Now, that is very interesting!!
Also at the event was the #63 Viper Niza Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 of Douglas Khoo with the event making their first-year anniversary of their tie up with Aston Martin where Singapore 2022 was he first AMR powered race.
Whilst Khoo now has many race miles under his belt within the #65 car within both the TSS and other series, difficult driving conditions during both races around the Singapore street circuit proved to be a challenge for many.
Finishing P8 in class after Saturday’s weekend opener, the weekend was tarnished slightly with a DNF in race two on Sunday.
The series now takes a break before its fifth and concluding championship round at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram in mid-December.

Back to the future for Viper Niza in Singapore this weekend
Launching their AMR Vantage GT3 and GT4 adventures just a week ahead of their race debut at the circuit last season, the Douglas Khoo led team have been busy in-between competing within that domestic TSS series as well as larger series further afield like the Asian Le Mans Series.
Like last year, the 2022 Aston Martin Racing Drivers Academy winner Romain Leroux will also be re-joining the Malaysian based team this weekend to again compete within their AMR Vantage GT4 car like he did with such dominance last year, taking class wins in both F1 support races.
With Khoo racing solo aboard the Vantage GT3, now more experienced with it and Leroux also racing solo aboard their GT4, let’s see where this weekend takes them on the silverware front!

No joy for the Viper Niza AMR Vantage GT3 crew either in the Thailand Super Series
Having endured localised torrential rainfall around the circuit earlier in the Free Practice stage of the event, both races were conducted under otherwise hot and humid conditions that again presented all the teams with set up issues running the new Yokohama control tyre.
Another bout of drizzle just before Qualifying meant for a declared wet track and at the end of both drivers session, their #65 would be starting from P8 for each of the weekend’s two races.
Blighted by the multiple use of the Safety Car, race 1 was never allowed to flow with the #65 car running as high as P3 during stages of Saturday’s opener but with the track again warming, tyre degradation would see the Aston Martin GT3 crew slowly drop to P6 by race end.
Sunday’s race would see Ang take the start, but the race would go pretty much the same way as race 1. Despite some spirited racing from both, the tyres wouldn’t last the demands of both car and driver as the #65 slipped back again to finish the weekend in P7.
What will now be interesting to see is if the Viper Niza Racing crew will again compete within the series invitational event around the streets of Singapore in support of the upcoming F1 event there? That is of course where there AMR Vantage GT3 and GT4 adventure all started last season.
