Still just two Aston Martins within this weekend's SRO America visit to Road America (just in another format)
Sticking with what will be a constant first and that will be the #71 Rebel Rock Racing AMR Vantage GT3 car and crew of Frank DePew and Robin Liddell who will be competing within the fifth round of the GT Word Challenge America Series this weekend from Road America – although they have of course only contested within the last three rounds of the series so far since stepping up from the GT4 category.
This weekend will see another three-hour race on Sunday after Practice and Qualifying starting on Friday.
Helping to swell the grid of that series back up to twenty-four cars, the teams #54 car of Christian Bach and Billy Johnson will be competing within the Pro-Am class for their two one-hour, pit stop punctuated races over the weekend.
Quite what the object of this exercise is (beyond just going racing) is yet to be seen as this grid will get their first track action of the weekend on Thursday before race one on Friday and race two on Saturday.

Aston Martin steal the airwaves from The Wing this week with three new reveals
Starting with electronic communications being issued within the early hours of Monday morning for the new Vantage GT3 race car, the day later saw the company’s latest F1 challenger get unveiled alongside that of the parent company’s new road car upon which the GT cars are based.
As far as we were concerned, the events of the day continued with further photo shoots, filming and interviews before culminating in a lavish dinner, attended by many involved on the project from the Prodrive facility alongside this year’s AMR professional driver roster and representatives from the many AMR Partner teams from around the world.
Despite having both the new Vantage GT3 and GT4 each raced at IMSA’s opening rounds of their Weathertech Sportscar Championship and Michelin Pilot Challenge Series by the Heart of Racing, Magnus Racing and Rebel Rock Racing last month, yesterday was the car’s official unveiling.
Productivity with having some many drivers within immediate proximity to the factory was extended into many of these attending drivers later going to the Prodrive facility in Banbury to complete seat fitting necessities whilst others were on new car pre-delivery shakedown duties, again at their test track facility at Silverstone with new machinery destined for eager customers around the world.
With the IMSA and World Endurance Championship contending teams already in possession of their new machinery, the next sequence of delivery would have to be with their SRO America running clients with some expecting their new cars over the next couple of weeks ahead of an early April start to their season in Sonoma.
Other drivers we contacted once we knew that they were in attendance last night, confirmed their continuation with the AMR platform within their chosen series but some conceded that they would need to start the season with their older 17A variant before swapping to the new chassis later in the year. Just who and where is something not for us to disclose!
Whilst some teams have already confirmed their continuation or swap to Aston Martin Racing marque for the new season, many teams have still yet to do so we were perhaps a little disappointed not to learn of more on that front from with this week’s events – but then, why would they announce at a global launch when they all need maximum exposure themselves for their 2024 ambitions?
2024 is still going to epic – and extremely busy!!
