Young Driver AMR
New challenge for Tomas Enge. After the winning the 2009 Le Mans Series, he will compete in inaugural season of FIA GT1 World Championship. The Czech driver will be partnered with Briton Darren Turner, with whom he will share The Aston Martin DBR9 of factory supported Young Driver AMR team. The official presentation of the Young Driver AMR team took place on Tuesday in Kopenhagen, Denmark.

Young Driver AMR is a new team created specifically to compete in and win the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship and the 24h Le Mans endurance race. From the beginning Young Driver AMR has been constructed with proven winners from the top down, and each member of the staff are experienced professionals from the international world of racing.

Young Driver AMR is entering 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship with winning package. The team will enter two Aston Martin DBR9s with really strong drivers line-up. The car number 007 will be driven by Tomas Enge (CZE) and Darren Turner (GBR). Both drivers are long-time Aston Martin factory drivers
and last season they were the members of successful Aston Martin Racing team, that overruled Le Mans Series and successfully competed also in famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. Tomas Enge was one of the members of the crew of 007 Lola-Aston Martin LMP1 prototype, that won LMP1 class overall
classification. Darren Turner has two wins at 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GT1 class driving DBR9s.

The car number 008 will be driven by Stefan Mücke (GER) and Christoffer Nygaard (NED). Stefan is fresh of an amazing season where he finished as 2009 Le Mans Series Champion with Aston Martin Racing. Christoffer Nygaard is the driver of the future, but despite limited hours in GT1, he finished last season in GT3 with a win at Oschersleben (GER) and we are excited to have him learn from the best, while competing with the rest.

Fischer Racing and Mr. Erhardt Fischer, who enjoyed a successful season in the European GT3 championship last year, is in charge of the technical side and has just moved operations to a wonderful new location to fit the needs of Young Driver AMR. Management and communication is located in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Young Driver AMR team will enter two cars in all 10 rounds of 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship. The first race will take place at Yas Marina (UAE), April 17. late on May, the Young Driver AMR team will show his skills on Tomas Enge‘s home soil: the third round of 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship will take place at Masaryk circuit in Brno (CZE), May 23.

„In the previous Tomas Enge was usually the last one from those drivers that I control as a manager, who had signed contract for next season. I am happy, because this year we are in opposite situation, even though it was a lot of diplomacy. It is great, that two so excelent drivers, like Tomas and Darren are, will share one car,“ commented Antonin Charouz, manager of Thomas Enge.
