Thursday, May 06, 2010

Tomas Enge (CZ), Christoffer Nygaard (DEN) and Stefan Mücke (GER) driving Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin DBR9 are set to make this year’s debut in the 2010 Le Mans Series, with an entry in 1000 kilometres of Spa: the second round of LMS. The team should profit from the start in the 2010 24 Hours Le Mans.

In addition to the GT1 World Championship program, Tomas Enge with the team-mates will compete in the 2010 24 Hours Le Mans. For Czech driver, who achieved to win the Le Mans qualifying in his class five times between years 2002 – 2006, it will be the ninth entry in the famous race.

In 1000KM Spa the Aston Martin DBR9 car number 52 in its white and red livery will be driven by Tomas Enge (CZ), Christoffer Nygaard (DEN) and Stefan Mücke (GER), who will stand in for Peter Kox (NL), the third driver for the 24 Hours Le Mans. No. 52 Aston Martin for 1000 kilometres of Spa is the same, which Tomas Enge has driven in the GT1 World Championship.

Tomas Enge, Young Driver AMR team’s driver: “The best possible way how to prepare for the 24 Hours Le Mans is to entry an endurance race. That’s why also Peugeot and Audi will participate in 1000 kilometres of Spa. For us the participation in Spa will be the only test before the 24 Hours Le Mans. Our result will show how we compare to the competition.
Regulations for GT1 World Championship and Le Mans Series are the same, so in Spa we can run the same car as in the GT1 World. The only change is an add-in air-condition, which provides the prescribed temperature in a cockpit (32°C at maximum).

In total more than 50 cars will compete in Spa. In means on the 7 kilometres long track there will be a heavy traffic. In GT1 class 7 cars will compete, and most of them will be our competition in Le Mans. I guess it will be very an interesting fight.”

1000KM Spa starts on Sunday March 9th at 11:30 am. There will be live broadcast on Eurosport TV starting at 11:15 am.
