Young Driver AMR: Le Mans 12 hour update

Young Driver AMR is in the recovery mode after a turbulent start into the 24h of Le Mans. After leading the GT1-class in the first hour of the race, a broken driveshaft cost 60 minutes in the pits. Beside the problem with the driveshaft, the Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin DBR9 of Christoffer Nygaard (DK), Tomas Enge (CZ) and Peter Kox (NL) is running like clockwork. At the 12h-mark, the Young Driver AMR-team is running fourth in the GT1-class and has recorded 2098 km in 154 laps so far.
The race started fairly good for Young Driver AMR, starting driver Peter Kox lead in the GT1-class in the first 60 minutes of the race. The Dutchman dropped to third in the second hour, when the Young Driver AMR-team decided to change tires at the first pitstop, which caused a little bit longer stop then the competitors. After the driver change, Tomas Enge fought back to second position and battled for the class lead, when the right driveshaft broke at 18:40 o'clock and required a lengthy pitstop for repairs. But Nygaard, Enge and Kox didn't give up and worked back their way to fourth position in the GT1-class halfway through the race.
"The start was pretty good"Peter Kox said. „We had a slight problem with our rear tires and decided to change tires at our first stop to make some changes in the tire pressure. That worked well and now we have to be constant to reduce our gap to the leaders and to make it until the end of the race."
"My first stint at Le Mans was very cool,"Christoffer Nygaard said about his first laps under racing conditions at the legendary 13.629 km long track. „Before the race I hadn't driven many laps at Le Mans, but I was very pleased with my lap times. Beside our problems in the first hours of the race, the car has been running like clockwork."
"My last stint was o.k", Tomas Enge said. „The car is running nicely, I had some small problems but only in fast corners on my last couple of laps. I guess it's the tyres. We have to check this and maybe make some adjustments to the tyre pressure."
