Aston Martin Racing tests at Silverstone with 2013 Vantage GTE

Saturday, December 08, 2012

Aston Martin Racing has this week completed their first test in preparation for the 2013 season.

On Monday the 2013 spec Vantage GTE tested alongside the 2012 car to allow the team to assess the upgrades for the coming season with work’s drivers Stefan Mucke and Darren Turner sharing the driving duties at a damp Silverstone.

The team have been working incredibly hard with early mornings and late nights in order to get the 2013 Vantage ready, the new car features both engineering and aesthetic enhancements which are bound to make it a fan favourite. On a visit to the factory a few days prior to the test the car was still in build with the team also preparing the 2012 car and customer cars all bound for the Silverstone test.

After a promising return to GT racing for the factory team, which saw the Vantage GTE finish on the podium at all but one of the WEC rounds the team are now looking to build on their success in 2013 with AMR hoping to field up to four cars in the WEC (two Pro and two AM). Speaking to the team the plan for 2013 was clear – win the World Endurance Championship.

The test was also an opportunity for customers to test the GT3 and GT4 versions of the Vantage with drivers from America, Venezuela and UK all sampling the latest machinery ahead of next season. With more V12 Vantage GT3s already being delivered it looks set to be a great year for the Banbury based team.
