A different looking Beechdean AMR prepare for penultimate round of British GT

Tuesday, August 02, 2016

Multiple British GT Championship winning squad Beechdean Aston Martin Racing (AMR), will look to take on their rivals at Snetterton this weekend (6th and 7th August), for the seventh and eighth round of the 2016 British GT Championship.

Following a week of several team announcements; that included the withdrawal of the #1 Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3 car, the team will field two Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4 cars at Snetterton. The East Anglia based race circuit will feature two hotly contested British GT one hour races. The two races will be on the 4.779 KM Snetterton 300 layout, a configuration that has two long straights as well as a tight in field section, proving beneficial to cars with good mechanical grip and traction.

Beechdean AMR GT4 driver Jack Bartholomew, who currently lies second in the British GT4 driver’s standings, will drive alongside Aston Martin Racing Factory Driver Ross Gunn for the first time in the #407 car. The pairing will look to bring home two consistent results in an attempt to close the gap with the current championship leaders.

“I am looking forward to the Snetterton races this weekend and working with Ross” Said an enthusiastic Bartholomew. “I will hopefully be able learn from his experience and knowledge in the GT4 car. The target is two strong results.”

Reigning British GT4 Champion Gunn, who will be in Jordan Albert’s seat this weekend commented, “Driving the Beechdean GT4 this weekend will be a fresh challenge and one that I am excited about. My target this weekend is to give Jack and Beechdean the best possible chance to fight for the championship at the Donington finale, which means we need two good race results this weekend.”

Celebrity baker Paul Hollywood and Reigning British GT4 Champion, Jamie Chadwick will race in their second British GT event of the year in the #408 Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4 car. After a difficult race at Spa, ending in an early retirement, the pair are feeling optimistic about the coming weekend.

Hollywood commented on the upcoming race saying, “I have raced at Snetterton quite a few times and the circuit features – in my opinion – one of the trickiest corners on the calendar. I have recently had a good test there and am looking forward to getting back on track this weekend.”

Team mate Chadwick, who famously secured the title with Beechdean team mate Gunn almost twelve months ago at the Norfolk circuit stated, “Snetterton is a circuit that holds great memories for me and one that Paul knows well. I am looking forward to a positive weekend with two strong finishes being the aim.”
