More podiums but more needed to challenge their class Championships in FFSA GT4

Monday, October 05, 2020

Competing at just the third round of five in the FFSA GT4 Series, the AGS Events Racing Team continued their run of podium success in both the Pro-Am and Am Classes with their quartet of Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4’s.

This time at the Circuit Paul Ricard in the south of France, private testing on Friday saw the teams endure some wild weather as Storm Alex blazed a trail of despair around western Europe making for (if nothing else) some great photographic images.

Thankfully for the teams, clear’ish skies and sunshine greeted them on Saturday ahead of that days Qualifying and first race that would again take them into the night. Again, the #161 Am class car of Didier Dumaine and Christophe Carriere claimed class pole for that race, eventually claimed a P3 finish in class at the end – another series double as the #89 Pro-Am entry of Mike Parisy and Nicolas Gomar claimed a P1 class finish, P4 overall.

Race two wouldn’t be so productive for the teams four cars with a DNF for new Am Class team runners Eric Herr and Joseph Collado whilst the #69 Pro-Am car of Akhil Rabindra and Gilles Vannelet did enjoy a more constant string of finishes over the three legs (P5 in class being their best result in Race 2).

Sundays final race would again deliver the #89 crew with another P1 class finish (P2 in the race) whilst the #161 crew went two better in securing their first class win of the weekend.

Despite these finishes, the team needs to gain some additional points should they have any aspirations of claiming either of the Pro-Am or Am Class Championships as the Series moves onto the Grand Prix of D’Albi (town near Toulouse) in two weeks time.
