PROsport Racing offering a packed 2021 season with some already familiar faces

Christoph Esser’s PROsport Racing team is promising another diverse year of motor racing in 2021 with a busy season of European (and perhaps international) racing coming up for both their existing client base as well as new, but familiar faces in their Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4 race cars.

First up for them in 2021 will be the 24H Series 24hrs of Dubai. Having already dispatched their sea container with all their necessary equipment earlier this month, long term customer Rodrique Gillian and ‘in-house’ driver coach Nico Verdonck will again form the basis of their Creventic series attack starting at Dubai in mid-January before moving onto further rounds at Spa and Portimao before potentially venturing on to the 12hrs of Sebring that is scheduled for mid-November.

Joining the two Belgians with this AMR Vantage GT4 in Dubai with be countryman journalist Stephane Lemeret as well as young Dane Patrik Matthiessen.

Of course no stranger to the workings of a 2019 AMR Vantage GT4, Matthiessen saw action aboard one of the Optimum Motorsport ran AMR’s that featured heavily in the British GT Championship in that year before swapping over to an HHC ran McLaren 570s in that Championship last year, pushing the eventual Championship winners in their TF Sport AMR Vantage GT4 all the way.

Matthiessen also features prominently within the team’s new full season DTM Trophy efforts for next season, being their first driver confirmation for the new season in what is expected to be a new – two AMR Vantage GT4 effort. The team did enter one car into the final round of that Series 2020 season at the Lausitzring where two GT4 debuting drivers secured a podium finish.

This week’s confirmation also stated the desire of the German based team to continue within the Nordschleife Langstrechen Serie (former VLN) as well as the ADAC Total N24 with at least one of the Astons.

2021 should also see the team make their first contribution within the growing Ultimate Cup Series that sees its GT4 runners feature in four-hour endurance races around various circuits in southern France, Spain and Portugal. This year we saw Barcelona based Team Virage compete in a couple of rounds of this series with their AMR Vantage – taking a race win at Dijon in the process. The team have stated that both Gillion and Verdonck are due to compete in at least the majority of their 2021 season.
