One top forget for the AMR GT4 runners at Magny-Cours!

Despite an Am Class podium, the opening race of the second round of the FFSA GT4 Series proved to be something to forget for the six Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 runners yesterday.

Competing at the former home of the French F1 at Magny-Cours in central France, the #8 JSB Competition AMR of Julien Briche and Jean Laurent Navarro was lost to the proceedings even before Qualifying for Race 1 yesterday and did not take part in the following one-hour opener for reasons that are not abundantly clear.

Then, as the cars circulated on the opening laps of yesterday's evening race, an unseen incident involving the #38 Mirage Racing car of Yves Lemaitre and the #007 AGS Events Racing Amr of Romain Leroux had both cars retire at the side of the road with damage before the #79 AGS Events AMR of Stephane Desbrosse then spun out in the gravel just a few minutes later!

With four Aston’s down and out within the first half of the race, the Pro-Am #89 AGS AMR of Nicolas Gomar and Mike Parisy as well as the #161 AM Class entry from Didier Dumaine and Christophe Carrier at least were challenging for position in class as the laps unfolded.

By the end Parisy had dropped to finish P14 overall (P12 in class) whilst the #161 did ‘survive’ the race to claim another Am Class podium being P20 overall but more importantly P3 in class.

Let’s hope for better things in today’s race!!
