Two Aston Martins to feature in Indycar's support race package from Nashville next weekend

Friday, July 30, 2021

Eight weeks since their last race at Virginia International Raceway, the GT America cars get an additional run out next weekend as the SRO Series supports the Indycar Series event at the Music City Grand Prix from Nashville.

Running a bespoke 2.17 mile street circuit, two Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4’s are confirmed within the GT America’s expected twenty five car entry with the #2 GMG Racing entry for Jason Bell and the #25 Heart Of Racing entry for Gray Newell.

Last time out at VIR, Bell secured a P2 podium finish during the first race of that weekend to come away in second place within the GT4 Drivers Championship table whilst Newell continued nicely along his steep development curve from almost a race novice at the start of the year through to two consistent finishes at VIR in P7 and P6 in class respectively. This tight street circuit layout will certainly be his toughest test yet.

The only car expectedly missing from the entry list is the Notlad Racing with RS1 AMR of Matt Dalton. As previously reported, the team has temporally switched their racing programme to the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge for the remainder of the year whilst Dalton recovers from injuries sustained in previous accidents at both CoTA and VIR.

The weekends first forty-minute race starts at 19:25hrs local on Saturday 7th with the other at 14:25hrs local on Sunday.

The GT America will again marry up with the GT4 America Series and GT World Challenge America Series at Road America just weeks later.
