R-Racing finally confirm their AMR Vantage GT4 driver pairing ahead of their British GT debut

First announcing their racing intentions back in November 2021 sees Norfolk based R-Racing finally confirm their driver line up for their first season with a GT4 race car in the British GT Championship.

With young driver Josh Miller taking another step up the racing ladder with the team, progressing up from the single make Ginetta Junior Series to a fully-fledged GT4 race car and from the TOCA race package to an SRO sanctioned series, the team has today confirmed that Miller will be partnered in their British GT entry by another sixteen-year-old, Jamie Day.

Ginetta Junior Miller and F4 UAE racer Day will rewrite the Championship record books at the opening round of the season from Oulton Park in just over two weeks’ time by becoming the youngest race pairing in the Championship’s history whilst also making more records should they win in class at either Oulton Park or next time out at Silverstone or indeed take the overall GT4 title at the end of the season.

Since taking delivery of their new Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 at the turn of the year, the team have been busy conducting the necessary pre-season testing which included Day being present for the first time at their last test at Snetterton last week.

“I first tested the Aston GT4, which was one of TF Sport’s cars, back in November soon after agreeing the deal to continue with R Racing. It was a big jump initially, but you learn so much in Genetta’s that I was able to adapt quickly. In many ways I was surprised by how much of my prior experience could be carried across and applied to driving the Vantage GT4”

“I’ve since tested R Racing’s chassis at Snetterton with Jamie [Day] who’s great to work with. Of course, it won’t be easy – we and the team are all new to British GT – but a few podiums and maybe breaking one or two of those records would represent a great season. Naturally, we’re hoping for even more than that” said Miller with today’s news from the Championship.

Today’s announcement confirms only the second Aston Martin Racing Vantage to be entered into the national Championship this season, alongside that from the Newbridge Motorsport team whose drivers Matt Topham and Darren Turner will defend their 2021 GT4 Pro-Am crown.

Sadly though, it appears as if 2022 will be the first year in many where AMR will not be represented within the GT3 class with Beechdean AMR now signed up to race in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup Series.
