DTM Trophy kicks off this weekend with two AMR Vantage GT4s

The DTM Trophy finally kicks off its 2022 season this weekend as the GT4 grid competes at the Lausitzring to the south of Berlin.

Last season we had the PROsport Racing team compete in what turned out to be an unfortunate experience for them and their drivers which quickly resulted in them leaving the series after just a couple of rounds.

Their place this season is taken up by one of the many new teams taking up the Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 platform for the first time as Speed Monkeys Motorsport enter a pair of AMRs for their young drivers.

Like many, the series runs a two-race programme over the weekend but with only solo drivers competing within each of the twenty cars entered this season.

The team has already confirmed drivers Nick Hancke and Jacob Riegel will drive for them this year. Hancke comes with an impressive VLN/NLS track record as he moves up the racing ladder from tin tops to GT4 whilst the seventeen-year-old Riegel is still very much still at the early stages of his racing career having raced with the team within the ADAC GT4 Germany Series last year.

They will compete in the #99 and #63 car numbers respectively.

Livestreams of each of this weekend’s track sessions as available from the series social media sites.
