Team Speed Monkeys look for further silverware at DTM Trophy visit to the Norisring

It’s been a very busy few weeks for the Team Speed Monkeys crew, what with their existing full season DTM Trophy commitments being doubled up by their new two car entry into the remaining rounds of the ADAC GT4 Germany Series, and this weekend is no different as they venture across to the Norisring for the third round of the DTM support series.

Four races down, and the first silverware for the drivers and team came last time out at Imola as their #63 car of Jacob Riegel stepped up a gear of the ability he showed at the opening round of the season from the Lausitzring to come hope second overall in race one before claiming pole and another second-place finish in race 2.

Teammate and driver of the team’s #99 Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 (Nick Hancke) saw his race performance drop slightly in Italy by claiming his first DNF of the season in Race 1 after contact with more than one car going into the first corner of lap 1. Whilst he did then have a better race in race 2, he couldn’t match the pace of Riegel and had to settle for fifth.

This compactness of Imola last time out will be changed by the speed rush of the bespoke street circuit of the Norisring where three long straights are punctuated by only six corners ranging from a kink to a tight hairpin bend and with Riegel having been busy at the latest round of the ADAC GT4 Germany Series with the team at Zandvoort last weekend – he should be even faster!!

The results of last week sees Riegel rise up to forth in the Drivers Championship table on forty points with Hancke in seventh on thirty points.

If the previous four races are anything to go by – this weekend’s round will be eventful!
