A 'glorious in bare carbon' Vantage GTE for TF Sport ELMS / WEC test in Portugal

Monday, August 15, 2022

Whilst we have enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing week away from the mainstream, others within the Aston Martin Racing family have still been ‘hard at it’ as their 2022 season’s progress with a vengeance.

Amongst those busy at a racetrack somewhere around the world were the TF Sport team who perched up at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal for some testing for their some of their European Le Mans Series and World Endurance Championship runners.

Sporting not just their ELMS LMP2 car, had the team testing both of their ELMS entered AMR Vantage GTE cars as well as another, brand new looking AMR Vantage GTE to either replace their #33 car that was severely damaged at the last round of the WEC at Monza in early July or is an updated EVO version of the existing platform as was being tested on Goodyear rubber (but sadly not the latter as apparently the GTE X reference was simply a typo!!)

With testing events like these always a private affair, it was noted that the test was attended by several factory drivers beyond those normally associated with these cars or series.

For their two Aston Martin GTE ELMS entered cars, their next port of call will be at Barcelona at the end of the month before their first fly away round of the WEC season with a visit to the Fuji International circuit in Japan just two weeks later.
