Up to three Astons at this weekends 8+7 Hour WRL visit to Barber (UPDATED)

Friday, March 01, 2024

To complete this weekend’s trilogy of race events taking place around the world (as far as Aston Martin Racing powered teams are concerned) sees the World Racing League embark upon their second round of the season from Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama for another of their traditional 8 + 7 Hour races.

This time featuring at least three AMR Vantage GT4 crews from our friends at TLM Racing and Automatic Racing, this weekends will see another fifty-seven strong grid with the three Astons again competing within the twenty-four strong GTO class.

TLM racing have confirmed that drivers Jim Hamman, Nathan Bird and team boss David Tuaty will be running within the distinctly liveried #172 whilst the young Zang O’Shaunessy will be running the #888 ‘Mona’ alongside that of JP Southern. We are still waiting to hear of confirmation of names within the #909 Automatic entry but expect at least part of their IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series contenders amongst them.

Testing and eventually Qualifying will already be underway today before tomorrow sees the opening eight-hour race before Sundays concluded seven-hour affair – it sounds easy, but all will testify that Sunday’s efforts quickly become hard work and a decent test of endurance for the cars, teams and drivers.

UPDATE

Since posting, we have learned that the #909 Automatic entry will this time be a 2018 #17A variant like the two TLM Racing entries. Drivers racing will include both Todd Parriott and Tom Dwyer from the flying Lizard team and who are also due to compete within the GT America and GT4 America Series this season. They will gain valuable track time this weekend alongside team regular Steven Davison.

Also in attendance will be Heart of Racings latest young lady racer in Hannah Greenemeier who is also due to run within the GT4 America Series alongside Hannah Grisham. She will however be getting seat time this weekend within an Audi GT4.
