Ten Aston Martin Racing powered crews feature in this weekends return of SRO America from VIR

Two months since they all came out race around the Circuit of the Americas back in mid-May, but this weekend finally sees the SRO America trilogy of series back in action again from the beautiful Virginia International Raceway.

Again involving all three of their GT World Challenge America, GT4 America and GT America Series, this weekend will see the GT3 only and GT4 America series race their respective fourth round of their seven round seasons whilst the amateur only, mixed class of the GT America Series race their fifth round of an eight-round season this weekend.

Unfortunately, their two-month sabbatical hasn’t seen anymore Aston Martin Racing powered teams come forward to play as just the #08 Flying Lizard AMR Vantage GT3 of Elias Sabo and Andy Lee rides again within the GT World Challenge America Series whilst four AMR Vantage GT4’s from the Heart of Racing, Flying Lizard and Skip Barber School compete within the mixed classes of the GT4 America Series.

Gray Newell and Roman De Angelis pair up again within the #24 Heart of Racing car whilst Hannah Grisham and Hannah Greenemeier pair up again within their recently upgraded (from Am) to Silver #26 car. Beyond them, we have the fellow full season entry from the Flying Lizard team for the #13 entry of Todd Parriott and Tom Dyer in Pro-Am as well as an ad-hoc entry from the #16 Skip Barber Racing School team for Marc and Tyler Sharinn within the Am class.

Then in GT America we have the most AMR entries with three Vantage GT3’s and two Vantage GT4’s as Jason Bell and Elias Sabo go again within their #2 and #48 Flying Lizard Vantage GT3 Evo entries whilst Tim Savage is again out in his older 16A version #007 Prosport Competition prepared Vantage GT3.

Gray Newell (#25) and Todd Parriott (#31) again double stack their GT4 activities within these two forty-minute Bronze ranked driver only races.

Championship wise within any of these three series, 2024 has been something of a difficult transition year – particularly for those stepping up from GT4 into GT4 as podium finishes have been something of a rare commodity this time again and after the hay days of last season with the two Heart of Racing within the GT4 America Series being the pick of the bunch so far this season even though the all-female #26 pairing were forced to swap from Am to Silver after the second round of the season at Sebring after their performances.

Track action for all three series starts this Friday with Free Practice before Q1 and race 1 on Saturday and the same again on Sunday for race 2.
