Glimpses of potential within the AMR pairing at second round of DTM from the Lausitzring

The second round of the German DTM Series took place at the weekend from the Lausitzring with both Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 crews again in action.

With two more-hour long races around the fast and furious tri-oval infield circuit layout, it was always going to difficult for the two still relatively inexperienced GT3 racers in Gilles Magnus and Nicolas Baert to take the race to the peers, but improvements were still needed after the disaster of the opening round from Oschersleben.

Whilst never threatening within the first race, improve the two racers did as whilst others in front suffered incident and accident, the #7 (Magnus) and #8 (Baert) manged to bring their cars home in one piece for P18 and P19 finishes respectively at the end.

For the second race, Magnus had already shown some potential as he had qualified much further forward that either of them had previously done in P14, to even improve upon that during the race as he reached the heights of P11 overall just as the Safety Car was called for debris on track.

The restart unfortunately saw him vulnerable to those behind, and his track position quickly fell away as the laps passed, through the mandatory pit window and into the closing laps. Magnus would eventually finish P16 whilst Baert would suffer another DNF for his efforts.

The Series now moves onto Zandvoort for its third round in just a couple of weeks.
