Whilst things started well for the three Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 crews from both the Eastside Motorsport and Prosport Racing teams in qualifying for both races, only the #4 ESM car of Jan Philipp Springob and Storm Gjerdum turned that early form in race success after they eventually finished third overall but having started race one on Saturday from pole position.
The two Prosport entries also started their more characteristically higher up the order in P7 and P8 for the Anton Abee/Marek Bockmann and Hugo Sasse/Roman Fellner-Feldegg driven cars (respectively) for the opening race, but both dropped back in the order during that opening hour-long race for the #19 car to come home P6 and the #17 car P14.
Race two on Sunday should have seen the three Aston Martins starting from P5 for the #17 car and P7 and P8 respectively for the #4 and #19 cars but the race saw both the #4 and #19 cars failing to finish with the #17 car not even starting.
Whilst there wasn’t quite the high and the lows of the GT4 battles for the two Comtoyou Racing AMR Vantage GT3 crews within the headlining DTM Series races, there were definite signs of consistency and overall improvements for their two drivers.
Gilles Magnus again outshined his teammate of Nicolas Baert within his #7 car as the Belgian secured his highest qualifying position of P3 for race one whilst Baert was still an improved P11 whilst the race would see them ultimately finish P9 and P21 respectively.
Race two on Sunday wasn’t quite as good though as the #7 and #8 cars were again at the back of the twenty-two strong grid in P19 (#7) and P20 (#8) before eventually finishing just slightly higher than that in P17 and P19.
Both German based series will now see out their 2025 seasons from Hockenheim in early October.
