Iberian Supercars returns to the track after its long summer break

The Iberian Supercars Series makes its long-awaited return to the race track this weekend after its extended summer break last saw them compete in early June.

Opening rounds from both Portimao and Jarama (plus a little non-championship visit to Vila Real in between), this weekend sees a twenty-eight-car strong GT4 grid make their way to Valencia’s Circuit Ricardo Tormo circuit for two more fifty minute – pit stop punctuated races.

 

That’s an increase in both overall numbers as well as those Aston Martin Racing powered entries as four such crews make the journey this time around. The #007 NGT AMR of Miguel Ferreira and Fernando Soares is one such new entry as they take out their 17A variant within the Am class.

The #777 RV7 Am classed entry of Ruben Vaquinhas and Mico Mineiro return looking to continue their good performance in class after their near maximum points first time out as will the #28 Racar Motorsport bronze classed entry of Vasco Oliveira and Manuel Giao who did something similar.

 

The #77 Racar Motorsport AMR of reigning champion Mathieu Martins alongside his new co-driver Anton Morsing, however, will need to pick up the pace a bit after securing just thirteen points in their first outing to already stand some thirty points in arrears.
