Blackthorn still chasing the Pro-Am title at this weekends GT Open finale from Barcelona

Tuesday, October 20, 2026

It’s the final race weekend of the 2026 International GT Open Series and there is a class championship still out there to be claimed by the Blackthorn Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 driver of Charles Bateman who will have Henrique Chaves again by his side.

Starting the season off with the Portuguese AMR factory driver sees Bateman conclude the season with him too as Jonny Adam is otherwise pre-engaged on other matters having enjoyed something of a successful run through the seven rounds of the season so far with only the round at Misano blotting the teams copybook in terms of championship points haul but then, they never attended that round anyway.

Going into these two more traditional races within the Sprint format will see the thirty-five strong entry compete in both a seventy-minute race with one driver qualifying the car beforehand on Saturday before the sixty-minute finale on Sunday where the other driver has completed that honour.

Going into this final race weekend sees Bateman still just eight points in front of his closest class rival in Alexander Fach but with possibly two more teams being able to mathematically close down their ponts deficits to both drivers should the race results go there way – so nothing has been determined just yet.

The Polish based Good Speed Racing AMR Vantage GT3 team is also shown on the provisional entry with their #14 Am class entry for what will be for both Piotr Wira and Denis Waszek again after the latter’s first run out with the team last time out at Monza where they secured a P3 finish in class for themselves and the #97 Blackthorn car secured another class win for their efforts.

Whilst the Good Speed Racing team have no such pressures this time around, hopefully the Bateman/Chaves combination can rediscover the podium success that they both enjoyed together at the season opener from Portimao.
