Generation AMR SuperRacing finally get their new Vantage GT4's

Having had to compete as a sole entry in the Invitational Class of the GT4 European Series with their older 2016 generation of Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4 at the first two rounds of the series this year, Generation AMR SuperRacing have finally taken delivery of their TWO new 2019 specification AMR Vantage GT4's this week.

Seen giving both cars a run out at a track day at Silverstone today, in-car footage shot by team principle James Appleby of driver Matt George driving showed an obvious delight in both with finally getting behind the wheel of AMR's latest creation.

All being well, one of these cars (with the other as a spare) will feature at the next round of the GT4 European Series at Paul Ricard at the end of May. We would imagine that co driver and main financier to the team, James Holder will have at least one test in the car before that race weekend.

Tandy back with Appleby Engineering in the Gulf

Tandy back with Appleby Engineering in the Gulf

With just two days to go before the start of track proceedings at the 2017 Gulf 12 Hrs from Abu Dhabi, its great to see that Steve Tandy is confirmed as completing the driver line up aboard the #44 Generation AMR SuperRacing V8 Vantage GT4.

Rejoining the James Appleby lead outfit for the first time since their 2014 British GT escapades in their Bentley Continental GT3, the 63 year old sportscar enthusiast has kept himself more than busy during these intervening years in various national and European series including the FIA Historic, Group C, Lamborghini Super Trofeo as well as more latterly in some LMP3 machinery this year.

He joins team and car regulars James Holder and Matt George as they look to improve their finishing position from last year against GTX3 class rivals from Dragon Racing and Scudaria Villorba Corse.

Track action begins Thursday afternoon (local).

Generation AMR back to British GT with SuperRacing

Generation AMR back to British GT with SuperRacing

It was great to read that long term GT racers Generation AMR have this morning confirmed their entry into the 2016 British GT Championship with an all new Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4.

Having swapped to another prestigious GT3 marque for the 2014 season the team now reverted back to a race platform that has served them well since their conception in 2009. It is understood that they have acquired one of the first and heavily revised for 2016 specification Vantage GT4.

They will race under the SuperRacing banner.

James Holder

The change in name is due to one half of the driver pairing being James Holder, a co-founder and designer at the clothing brand SuperDry. He will be joined by Matt George, a former karter and Base Performance Simulator technician for what surely will become a 'baptism of fire'.

Matt George

Remarkably, this will be Holders first ever racing experience and with George have little/no recent on track racing experience it is understood that the duo have been undertaking extensive simulator training for at least six months.

“It will be Holder’s first season racing" said Team boss David Appleby "so we want to make sure he learns what is required to be competitive going forward. He is a driven and focused individual, as you would expect, so I know he will push himself whilst still enjoying what a great championship British GT has become".

“James and Matthew work well together with Matthew having coached him on the Base Performance GT simulator. The GT4 Aston Martin is the perfect car for James and Matthew’s first year racing together; reliable, safe and fast.”

Good luck to them both.

And if the design of any SuperDry clothing is anything to go by we should have a cracking livery on the car.

** Have been informed that James Holder will be designing the livery himself. It will apparently be fairly plain to start but will 'evolve' into something quite good as the season progresses**
