PROsport Racing one of just two GT4's in 24H Series Hockenheim

German team PROsport Racing have made a comparatively short trip over between races from the Nurburgring and Nordschleife where they competed in last weekends NLS 5 event to the Hockenheimring for the latest round of the Creventic 24H Series this weekend.

Originally slated to be held in Barcelona, the 24H Series had to find a new home for their latest round in Europe after it was earlier forecasted that Spain might be on a 'sticky wicket' with COVID related travel restrictions.

Trouble is, the current climate has again left the series somewhat lacking in overall numbers with just two true GT3 cars and two GT4 cars amongst the total expected grid of fifteen cars. PROSport's driver line again includes the teams Belgium clients with Rodrigue Gillion, Nico Verdonck and Tim Heeren all looking to improve upon past performances together in the Series at Portimao which sadly ended for them with a DNF.

24H Series opener at Portimao - Update

24H Series opener at Portimao - Update

With the teams now having completed their second and final private test session today ahead of the start of the weekend's more formal proceedings, there as just a couple of updates that need to be made.

Firstly but unfortunately unsurprisingly, the entry list has now seen seen Team Virage withdraw their Aston Martin racing V8 Vantage GT4 from the Series opener in Portugal - presumably due to an insufficient number of available drivers.

However, on the flip side of that we see the #401 Prosport Racing AMR Vantage GT4 secure a fourth driver join the already announced Belgium line up of Rodrique Gillion, Nico Verdonck and Tom Heeren as they are joined by Austrian racer Constantin Scholl about a car that sports a 2020 version of the German team's usual white and orange livery theme.

Todays test saw #401 crew finish second fastest car beyond the faster GT3 entries.

Tomorrow sees the first and only Free Practice session ahead of Qualifying for all classes tomorrow evening and Night Practice tomorrow night. The start of the 24 hour race itself begins at 12:00Hrs local.

The return of Prosport to 24H Series racing

The return of Prosport to 24H Series racing

It has been great to read this week of the return of the German based Prosport team name to the world of GT racing as the Creventic 24H Series confirm their provisional entry list for their first race in Europe of the season in Italy at the end of March.

Former runners of two Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4's in numerous series across Europe, the last word that we had seen about that team was regarding their probable winding up after a difficult year for them with new AMR Vantage machinery in both GT3 and GT4 classes.

All four cars were/have been up for sale since before the end of last season and previous customers of theirs have been seen racing with other teams.

It is therefore extremely pleasant to see the Prosport team name again mentioned in the Creventic circles as the series confirms an AMR GT4 entry for drivers Rodrique Gillion, Nico Verdonck and new co driver and fellow Belgium national Tom Heeren.

This team and the former two drivers once held the GT4 Championship lead in this Series last year before technical issues with both their Prosport and Team Virage (used after the withdrawal of Prosport from all competitive racing last year) cars ended that possibility with two races to go.

Hopefully, this year will be better for all and we wish them luck!
