After the shinanagans of Race 1 earlier today, all four entries from TeamAMR did themselves proud during the second race of the European GT4 Series Northern Cup event at Brands Hatch today.

With the second, "more able" driver starting the second race of the meeting that would see Matt Nichol Jones take the start in his #62 Vantage GT4, the colourfully liveried #007 of Street Art Racing's Denis Dupont starting P12 whilst Quantamatic Racings Mike Hart would start P20.

Despite some determined efforts by some all at least managed to make it around the first lap without spinning or crashing before the 30 car field began to spread out but just before the 20 minute mark the first Safety Car was deployed due to Porsche team mates clashing coming into Clearways. At least for all the Aston Martin entries positive progress was being made up the timing and scoring board.


Having lost ten minutes of racing to that incident the race itself would resumed straight into the opening of the pit window. Will Moore had just taken over the #62 car and had just rejoined the track when it had a major moment with a McLaren going into Hawthorn Bend but at least this time he kept it out of the gravel.

Moments later and with several cars spun off around the circuit the second Safety Car period was set.

Indeed a third further Safety car intervention period would wind things up for 8 minute dash to the line with the #62 soon snatching P3 from the #10 MacLaren, the cart that so nearly put the car into the gravel just after the pit stop. Further more Dave Robinson was also up to the rear wing of the #10 as he chased the sister Academy Motorsport prepared car for the final step on the podium.


Then came a point where you would have to question driving standards of some as the #10 McLaren again made contact with the rear of the #62 causing an instantaneous puncture just after Druids but even before Moore could limp his way back a number of other cars had crashed out around the circuit forcing Race Control to through a red flag with just over 3 minutes still remaining in the clock.

Fortunately for Academy Motorsport,  the count back to the last green flag lap restored their P3 podium position to them with their antagonists in the #11 McLaren behind them in fourth and the #61 Quantamatic car in fifth. Further back the #007 Street Art Racing car would be classified as P7 with the #144 Generation AMR in P10.


Later the #10 McLaren would be awarded a post race time penalty for the avoidable contact with the #62 towards the end of the race. That would as a result elevate the #61 car of Dave Robinson and Mike Hart up to P4 and everyone else behind them up one place.

Again, the European GT4 Series proves itself to be a very competitive series but just maybe driving standards need looking at to prevent further rounds from being blighted with repetitive Safety Cars periods. The next round for the Northern cup is at the Red Bull Ring in Austria in mid June.

After a busy day of Free Practice and Qualifying, the four members of the #TeamAMR family have today laid down their cards for tomorrows race grids for the European GT4 Series Northern Cup round at Brands Hatch.


Featuring the two full season entries from Street Art Racing and Academy Motorsport, they have been joined by two former British GT runners for this event in the form of the Quantamatic Racing and Generation AMR SuperRacing entries - with all competing within the Pro class.


By the end of Q1 this afternoon the cars will form up in this order on the grid for Race 1

The two full season entries from Street Art Racing and Academy Motorsport are due to be joined by two other Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4's for this weekends second round of the SRO's Northern Cup Series at Brands Hatch.

The third car is of the course the return of the Quantamatic Racing Vantage of Mike Hart and Dave Robinson who will join the SRO series as a one off event as they appraise a more fuller time return to competitive motor racing. The cart was last seen out midway through the 2015 British GT Championship when Hart shared the car with Terry Langley which has since been fully upgraded to 2016 specification.


Their car will, as far as we understand things still be run by Academy alongside their existing entry for Will Moore and Matt Nichol-Jones as they look to replicate the success enjoyed in Race 1 at Misano in April.


The #7 Street Art Racing Pro entry of Jerome Demay and Denis Dupont will also be looking to progress from their relatively lowly start from the two previous races as they race at Brands for the first time.


The final, one off entry comes from the European GT4 Series Southern Cup full season entry of Generation AMR SuperRacing with James Holder and Matt George again at the wheel for which (we think) maybe the teams only planned UK race this year.

The GT4 European Series Northern Cup action starts with Free Practice 1 on 10.55am on Saturday May 6th, with a second Free Practice (14.25) and the Qualifying Session (17.35) later that day. The first Race (10.15) and second Race (14.25) will be held on Sunday May 7th. Full season European GT4 Northern Cup entry, Academy Motorsport has today announced that it will be fielding a second, very familiar Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4 for Brands Hatch next month.

Making a competitive return to the race track for the second round of the Northern Cup for the first time since their untimely withdrawal from the British GT Championship midway through 2015 season, will be the Quantamatic liveried car of Mike Hart. He will be joined by another ex Caterham driver in Dave Robinson for the (at present) one off race as former team co driver Terry Langley has decided not to reinvigorate his GT racing career.


We understand that the car has been in the possession of Matt Nichol-Jones' Academy Motorsport team for some time now and was indeed shaken down by them at the AMR collective test in Portimao back in February.

Hart said "After a lot of effort from quite a few people, the Quantamatic car is making a one off appearance in the European GT4 Northern Cup at Brands Hatch next month.We'd like to compete again this year at the Zandvoort round, but we're looking for sponsors to help make that happen!"

Having already had Mike Hart confirm the sad reality during the latter half of last year, the former Quantamatic sponsored Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 is now being offered for sale by its owners - Team Parker Racing.

Easily one of the most attractively liveried cars in the 2015 British GT paddock, the car's two ex Caterham drivers, Mike Hart and Terry Langley unfortunately had their successful, yet sometimes 'eventful' induction into British GT painfully cut short with sponsorship 'issues' despite two well deserved podium finishes during the opening four races.


The sale presumably forms part of the teams restructuring in order to accommodate two new Bentley Continental GT3's that they intend to enter in the 2016 British GT Championship.

A good night was had by all at the Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square, London from the sounds of it last night at the annual SRO 'Night of the Champions' Award Night.

Beechdean's GT3 driver line up of Andrew Howard and Jonny Adam were on hand to collect not only their British GT GT3 Championship trophies but also those for winning the British GT Pro-Am Championship, The Blancpain Gentleman Trophy for Howard and the Sunoco Fastest GT3 driver for Adam.

An additional prize awaited Jonny Adam having scored the winning number of points in the 2015 Sunoco Whelen Challenge earning himself a drive at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January. Liam Griifin and Rory Butcher (Oman Racing) would finish third in Pro-Am.


Other British GT GT3 honours went to Oman Racing's Ahmad Al Harthy for winning the Silver Cup with his former team mate Daniel Lloyd in third.

In the British GT GT4 category, top honours went to Beechdean's Jamie Chadwick and Ross Gunn for winning not only the GT4 Championship itself but also the Silver Cup Championship.

For the teams, Oman Racing and TF Sport would finish second and third respectively in GT3 whilst Academy Motorsport and Beechdean would claim first and second respectively in GT4.

What a great year it has been but sadly we now have to wait until mid April for the first round of the 2016 British GT Championship. Thanks to all of you for your support and comments over the year and we hope to see you all again next year.

But then - for some - the preparation has already begun ……………………..!!

Six weeks off, brilliant summer sun, traditional fries and mayonnaise followed up with Belgium Waffles seemed to be the perfect ingredients for a balmy resumption to the 2015 British GT championship at Spa Francorchamps today.

With this weekend's meeting moving forward a day from the norm to accommodate Friday Free Practice and Qualifying with a Saturday race it was only the brightly coloured Barwell prepared Demon Tweeks liveried BMW Z4 that kept either the #6 Oman Racing Vantage of Rory Butcher/Liam Griffin or the #007 Beechdean Vantage of Andrew Howard/Jonny Adam off the top of the charts in the opening timed session. In fact six of the top ten cars were Aston Martin V12 Vantages spread by a gap of just over three seconds. 'Guests' for the race at Leonard Motorsport did not set a lap in FP1.

Down in GT4 territory it was a case of the Lotus Evora's and Ginetta G55's being first out of the blocks commanding the seven places.


Come the second Free Practice the #6 Oman Racing car would steal an advantage over a rejuvenated #27 TF Sport Vantage of Andrew Jarman/Jody Fannin to take the top two honours in GT3 whilst a progressive timing curve from the #407 Beechdean GT4 of Jamie Chadwick/Ross Gunn would also see them step up the leader board to end the session P2 in class.

Things would start very well for some as a steering rack problem cut the #61 Academy Motorsport GT4 of Dennis Strandberg/Will Moore to just five laps between them over both FP sessions. It should also be mentioned that a last minute deal between Mike Hart (Quantamatic) and Academy Motorsport has allowed Hart to compete in this prestigious event alongside Chris Webster despite the issues currently befronting him and Terry Langley and their Team Parker prepared V8 Vantage GT4.


With the Pro drivers being first out in Quali 1 this afternoon it would be the #007 Beechdean securing top honours ahead of the chasing #6 Oman Racing car of Rory Butcher by about half a second. Ross Gunn in the sister #407 Beechdean would be the lead AMR car in GT4 but back in fifth in class.

Just a few minutes later the Am drivers were out for their timed session and it would be the two guest teams of Aston Martin Brussels and Leonard Motorsport upsetting the series regulars taking first and third positions respectively. In GT4 Chadwick would haul the #407 up the timing board with a great P2 finish behind the GT4 pace setting Issy Racing Evora.

Aggregated qualifying times would give GT3 pole position to Howard and Adam in the #007 Beechdean just ahead of Butcher and Griffins Oman Racing Vantage in second and the #63 Barwell BMW Z4 in third.


In GT4 the Issy Racing Lotus Evora would take their class honours for the start of the race tomorrow just ahead of #407 Beechdean Vantage in second and the Century Motorsport Ginetta in third.

Assuming that all the teams manage to get through Operation Stack that is currently in force on the M20 because of the ongoing problems at Calais, there will be a couple of additions and omissions for the 2Hr British GT race at Spa on Saturday.

Seeing that the British GT race is only a couple of weeks prior to the Spa24 a couple of Aston Martin teams have entered this weekends event as practice event.


In a positive light Leonard Motorsport have entered their black and yellow 'Bumblebee' Vantage GT3 car with Stuart Leonard and Michael Meadows at the wheel and also joining them will be the Aston Martin Brussels GT3 car of Michael Schmetz and Tim Verbergt.

22GT Racing are due to be at Spa after having to rebuild the front end of their GT3 Vantage after its heavy, race winning impact at Silverstone. TF Sport also had work to do over the summer break also having to rebuild a car after accident damage at Silverstone together with engine issues in its sister car.


On the flip side Chloe and Jade Edwards' V8 Vantage GT4 continues to be absent from the series and this week they are joined by the Quantamatic GT4 car of Terry Langley and Mike Hart missing the event for what is being described as 'unforeseen circumstances'. Despite their 'eventful' start to their inaugural season the Leicestershire pairing are presently fourth in the drivers championship and second in the GT4 Silver Cup so will presumably be working hard to secure their series return.

After a six week break since the last race of the 2015 calendar at Silverstone, the British GT contingent make their customary venture across the Channel to the Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium for Round five of the championship..

With the McLaren new comers claiming maximum points at Silverstone at the end of May the championship table presently stands with the Oman Racing Team line up of Liam Griffin and Rory Butcher playing catch up with an 11.5 point deficit to the championship leading and 2014 champion Marco Attard.

Down in GT4 the Beechdean car of Ross Wylie and Jamie Chadwick lead the class by 31.5 points following their back to back victories at Silverstone and Rockingham. The pressure however ,will be on these guys as many of the chasing pack will have already had significant testing/racing experience at the iconic track.

Free Practice 1 and 2 take place on the morning of Friday 10th July with Qualifying later in the afternoon. The start of the two hour commences at 12:15Hrs local on Saturday 11th July.

With the British GT package again supporting the VW Fun Cup 25Hr race its not yet clear whether or not there will be any live stream/timing data as has been available on previous years.

Round three of the 2015 British GT Championship was at a rather wet Silverstone circuit at the weekend for the three hour spectacular dubbed the Silverstone 500.

With pre race 'casualties' being the withdrawal of the Edwards sisters Stratton Motorsport prepared Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 and the replacement of James Harrison within the #62 Academy GT4 car with team boss Matt Nicoll-Jones that still left eleven #TeamAMR cars spread across the GT3 and GT4 classes.


Quantamatic Racings Terry Langley and Mike Hart returned to the GT scene having had their V8 Vantage GT4 partially rebuilt following Langley's very scary double roll over at Rockingham just three weeks earlier. The team even sportingly placed some 'this way up' stickers on the side just to prevent any future 'misunderstanding'.


For those who took part in the Friday test it must have appeared that snorkels and flippers were the more appropriate set up but come the two official free practice sessions on Saturday morning it was fortunately back to slicks, reduced aero and an opportunity to set the car up for qualifying and the 3 hour race itself.

Leading the qualifying field in the GT4 class were the two Evolution Academy drivers of Ross Gunn and Jamie Chadwick in the #407 Beechdean AMR in P3 followed by the #71 Quantamatic car in P6. Over in GT3 the #007 Vantage of Andrew Howard and Jonny Adam led the way nearly a second ahead of the chasing McLaren 650S and BMW Z4's . The two Oman Racing cars then completed the top six.


Come the Sunday morning warm up session the track was extremely wet and most teams down the pit lane only completed siting cum system checks of no more than 2-3 laps with the quickest car, the #2 Oman Racing Vantage of Ahmad Al Harthy and Dan Lloyd clocking a lap time over twenty seconds slower than they did in FP1.


At about half past twelve and with just a single green flag lap behind the safety car Andrew Howard would lead the 35 car field through the final complex at Luffield and over the start/finish line to start the race on the rain soaked track. The spray coming off the leading cars was incredibly thick leading to what must have been near zero visibility conditions for the cars behind. Coming into Becketts the first time round #007 Vantage GT3 would spin itself out of the lead and down to the rear of the GT3 field but at least there was plenty of time left on the clock for the team to make amends.


In GT4 the sister #407 Beechdean also didn't fare so well coming into Copse on the start of lap 2. An incomplete move on one of the #61 Academy Aston Martin V8's by Jamie Chadwick left the scenario of not fully passing the car on the inside before she had to turn into the corner leading to the inevitable coming together on the inside rear causing the #407 to spin out harmlessly onto the run off area.

Picking up the pieces it wasn't long before both the #407 and #007 Beechdean's were picking off the places to make up for their earlier errors.


A bit further back the TF Sport teams two AMR Vantages were trying to settle down into their initial stints. The #27 Andrew Jarman/Jody Fannin car was still having a few performance issues arising from its overnight engine change not to mention an early tyre issue. The sister #17 car of Derek Johnston and Matt Bell were to fare no better with a spin at Stowe that resulted in the Steeldeck liveried car being unavoidably collected by the #18 FF Corse Ferrari putting an immediate end to both car's race.

The Safety Car period for this incident together with the drying track conditions allowed other cars like the 22GT Racing Vantage GT3 of Mark Farmer and Jon Barnes amongst others to move, almost unnoticed up the leader board. As the race progressed, their out of sequence driver line up would ultimately let the team to take the outright race lead as those around them changed, unnecessarily as it turned out, onto more wets. The teams somewhat brave choice to fit slicks at their subsequent pit stop also allowed then to retain the race lead.


Coming into the final hour of the race the 22GT Racing Vantage was still maintaining around a fifteen second lead to the chasing field with Farmer at the wheel. The team were looking good to stop the car for their third and final stop with about forty minutes to go.

Back in GT4 the leading bunch were yo-yoing between themselves as pit stops were being taken, some with success time penalties being added but all of that helped to add to the racing excitement between the squabbling Beechdean, Quantamatic and Toyota cars.

With only just over forty minutes or so remaining and with Jon Barnes getting suited and booted in readiness to get in the 22GT Vantage and for reasons yet unknown the #11 Vantage GT3 was seen on camera to collide very heavily with the inside pit wall along the International Straight. From what could be seen on camera it was obvious that the car was out of the race but there was still concern within the team garage for the welfare of the driver. Fortunately Mark Farmer was later seen to make his own way to the attending ambulance before a check over at the circuit medical centre.


The resulting Safety Car period and final sprint to the line would end up being between the two McLaren's, two of the BMW's, the #007 Beechdean and the two Oman Racing Vantages but alas at the flag, the podium was to end up being devoid of any Aston Martin Team for the first time this year.

That, thankfully wasn't the case in GT4 where the #407 Beechdean pairing of Ross Gunn and Jamie Chadwick pulled off yet another impressive but somewhat unexpected race win with the #71 Quantamatic crew of Terry Langley and Mike Hart in a mightily impressive and richly deserved second.


The British GT series now takes a few weeks off before the next round at Spa Francorchamps on the 11th July.

Several teams competing in the 2015 British GT Championship paid a visit to the Rockingham circuit yesterday for a semi exclusive test prior to round 3 of the championship which takes place at the Northamptonshire circuit on Bank Holiday weekend at the beginning of May.


Amongst the Aston Martin teams we know attended were TF Sport with a rather 'naked' #27 Vantage GT3. We believe that Matt Bell tested the car along with team mate Derek Johnston following their heavy off at Oulton park that destroyed the rear end of their car in round 1.

Also there were the Beechdean team with their full driver line up of Andrew Howard with Jonny Adam in their GT3 and Jamie Chadwick with Ross Gunn in the GT4.

Other AMR attendees included Quantamatic Racing with their Team Parker Racing prepared V8 Vantage GT4 with both Mike Hart and Terry Langley, JWB Motorsport with their GT4 and Jake Giddings and Academy Motorsport with at least one GT4 car and at least James Harrison driving.

For one new driver pairing, last weekend's round of the 2015 British GT Championship was their first competitive step into the unknown and far beyond the comfort zone that both had been used to.  Madam Luck had also not been exactly too forthcoming with her magical touch when it came to their testing exploits up until now either.

So when the first free practice session arrived both Terry Langley and Mike Hart of Quantamatic Racing must have wondered whether or not this was to be their weekend either.

The trouble is things didn't exactly go according to plan for them early on in this event either when their best time was struck off for supposedly cutting the chicane and in the second free practice session Hart wasn't able to complete a single lap because of a red flag incident cutting the session short. Hardly the best of starts!

Come the two part qualifying process later on Saturday Langley felt baulked by the 15 other GT4's and was only able to clock a time for P7 and 2.1 seconds behind the leading Lotus. Hart then went on to set a similar gap time for a P10 starting position for Race 2 a few minutes later having had the same issues on such a tight circuit as Oulton Park is.


All were apparently struggling to get to the bottom of the performance characteristics of the new Avon spec tyres and in the cool, damp conditions at Oulton for Race 1 this was no exception. "Understeer followed by exit oversteer was an early issue" reported Langley "and with that it was hard to make any impression against those around you" but with consistency of performance later in the life of the tyre come the opportunities to pick off one or two places.

Sometimes you can make your own luck and with a swift call from Team Parker Racing during the second Safety Car period  the team managed to get the car in and out again before the Safety Car came past again gaining them precious time.

With Hart now at the wheel more positions were picked off leaving the car (once the then leading GT4 had been given a drive-through penalty) finding itself P2 in class but having a determined battle with the #407 Beechdean GT4 of Jamie Chadwick for that position. Into the final laps they went but Hart was to ultimately loose out to the younger driver leaving the #71 car in P3 in their first ever GT race.
Was that in the team script??


The race green flag laps aren't always notable for incident but for the #71 car it was. A software glitch with the gearbox left Hart fumbling for gears that didn't seem to be there so a necessary system reset forced Hart to stop on track before thankfully he got going again but that would pub him down to plumb last on the grid.

Like a red rag offered to a bull this incident lead to some more very determined driving from Hart who ultimately passed the car over at the pit stop having gained seven positions on track. With Langley now at the wheel it was 'game on' to catch and pass both the Academy and JWB Aston Martin GT4's before finally their team sister car - the Twisted Parker Racing Ginetta.

Crossing the line in 6th was later made to feel much better when the #407 Beechdean was later excluded elevating the #71 Quantamatic car to P5 in class.



These results have left the drivers third in the GT4 Drivers championship standings and first in the GT4 Silver Cup. That has all been down to dogged determination and some great team work and support around them which the drivers publicly recognise.

Hopefully, the results from Monday's races will finally put the run of bad karma behind them and allow them to race this highly competitive GT4 field on a level track!

With the adrenaline levels from Race 1 now having levelled off a bit, three Aston Martin teams were each left with a V12 Vantage GT3 that needed varying degrees of rebuild to be ready for Race 2.

Due to the extensive rear damage to the #17 TF Sport car of Derek Johnston and Matt Bell, the team  effectively retired it on the spot, however the damage to both the #007 Beechdean and #11 22GT Racing was sufficiently less as to allow effective trackside repairs to be facilitated in the interval.

Added pressure was upon the shoulders of the mechanics in the Beechdean garage as Jonny Adam has earned himself pole position in the Pro qualifying on Saturday.


Come the green flag lap the #007 was indeed in its rightful position although things didn't go exactly to plan for other AMR drivers with the #71 Quantamatic V8 Vantage GT4 of Terry Langley/Mike Hart suffering an unexpected gearbox gremlin which necessitated an engine 'reset' part way around the green flag lap - not what you want in only your second GT race!


Come the end of lap 2, the Ginetta GT3 of Rick Parfitt found itself in the gravel and that spurred the release of the Safety Car for the first time in Race 2. Gratefully it was only out for one lap as the then stricken car had already extricated itself from the gravel trap and was roaring up to the rear of the line. It would also be the last we saw of the Safety Car in this race.

Having exited Race 1 on only the second lap Jon Barnes was getting his first competitive laps in British GT in their black and blue 22GT Racing Vantage GT3 and was soon showing a good, competitive pace to his peers around him.

Back in GT4 most of the AMR GT4 cars were squabbling for position amongst themselves but finding themselves five or six positions down to the class leader. The #51 Stratton Motorsport V8 Vantage of Jade Edwards also found herself in the pits for an (as yet undiagnosed) issue which they would loose over a lap to.


Just before the opening of the pit window and having till then a controlling lead Adam was passed by the FF Corse Ferrari of Race 1 winner Adam Carroll. Due to the rate the Ferrari then left Adam behind we have to assume that he was having some sort of tyre performance issue with the new Avon rubber.

Once the shenanigans of the compulsory pit stops were over (which normally takes 3-4 laps to complete) the biggest loser was the #11 22GT Racing car that had somehow lost a couple of places in the pit lane to its then immediate rivals - being the #27 TF Sport and #4 Oman Racing Vantages.

With Howard now controlling a 13.5sec lead in the GT3 class the closest to a podium in the GT4 class was the #61 Academy car of Will Moore who was then in 5th in class. Having just swapped into the #407 Beechdean the youngest racer of the bunch, Jamie Chadwick was giving it another one of her apparent charges up the list quickly gaining multiple positions.


With about twenty minutes remaining Mark Farmer in the #11 22GT Racing Vantage had recovered from their pit lane woes and had just taken Phil Dryburgh in the #4 Oman Racing Vantage for sixth on track. An apparent self inflicted off for Ahmad Al Harthy and a front right puncture for #27 TF Sport of Andrew Jarman would see them both come into the pits with punctures that would take them out of any sort of contention.

Then, with only five or so minutes remaining the top three GT3 cars and the #4 Oman Racing car each received a drive through penalty for (presumably) at pit lane infraction during the compulsory pit stop but because the #007 served their penalty immediately they would in fact return to the circuit in front once the 'guilty parties' had all served theirs.

Come the chequered flag the #007 Beechdean of Howard and Adam would secure their first win and fastest lap of the 2015 season having been spun out of a good racing position in the first race. Race one adjusted winners Rory Butcher and Liam Griffin would have to settle for fourth this time around.


In GT4 that great stint put in by Jamie Chadwick would see the #407 GT4 finish in P2 - hers and Ross Gunn's second podium finish of the event.

THE GT4 RESULT FOR #407 BEECHDEAN HAS SINCE BEEN ADJUSTED TO EXCLUDE THE #407 FROM THE RESULTS FOR AN UNDETERMINABLE INCIDENT EARLIER ON TRACK WHILST DRIVING IN A MANNER INCOMPATIBLE TO SAFETY.
