Christmas offerings if you have a suitable budget!!
What has been listed for sale this week, however, is perhaps one of the biggest packages of race cars that Aston Martin Racing has ever offered in its 2021 Vantage Legacy Collection.
Listed up Racecarsdirect.com today sees the existing American based owner offer for sale by auction this trio of cars, albeit in a different format than that first offered by the factory. Originally revealed in 2020 and then made up as a trio of the Vantage GT4, V12 Vantage GT3 and V8 Vantage GTE saw the owner offset the GT4 car a few years ago in favour of the now outgoing 16A turbo charged version, new at the time we first become aware of the collections location.
Further details of this $1.5 million can be found HERE
Listed as being fully rebuilt since the end of its European season, this car would be race ready for anyone competing at the highest of GT3 levels.
Alongside that, the site also has the listings for one example of the Lola Aston Martin B09/60 prototype as well as many more Vantage GT3 and GT4 cars from the likes of the Street Art Racing, GPA Racing and Ultimate Speed teams.
Then, upon another site we actually have a brand-new AMR Vantage GT4 Evo listed for sale within the USA.

Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 For Sale
Obviously sad to see but this has probably come about as a consequence of Mike’s significant accident in a Ginetta BTCC support race last season where the gentleman racer received multiple injuries.
Full listing can be found here https://www.racecarsdirect.com/Advert/Details/137197/2020-aston-martin-gt3-for-sale. Hopefully the car can find itself a useful home somewhere around the world.

GT New Zealand slides into a wet Hampton Downs for round two of the season as other dreams come to an end
What’s better for us this time is that we now have TWO Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT8R’s to support as dirt track racer Joel Giddy and his Mach 1 Engineering team joins that of the full season Race Lab supported Stephen Harrison entry this time around.
The #16 Giddy car is also no stranger to the series as was raced by Shane Helms in the then named Super GT NZ Series alongside Harrison out of the Race Lab garage.
With wet weather welcoming the twenty-six car GT entry, there will be ground to make up for Harrison within the GT4 class after his domineering pace of last season was left lacking at the sun blessed opening meeting of the season at Highlands Park three weeks ago which has already left the #78 car seventh in class after the three opening races.
Giddy will also have to hone his GT racing skills to the available sessions before Saturdays opening thirty-minute race after reportedly only testing out his new stead once before committing to the remaining rounds of the series.
Having been raced in last season’s North Island Endurance Series with drivers John Penny and Ronan Murphy, it appears that that relationship is now at an end and Penny is seeking to off-load his racing investment.

Van Der Steur Racing seek drivers for their AMR GT4 IMSA based programme in 2023
Whilst we already know of some established Aston Martin Racing powered teams moving on and up the ‘racing ladder’ with another brand next season, it’s great to read that their void may well be filled with another AMR powered runner.
Utilising the ability of the internet last night, we strolled across another advert upon the Racecarsdirect.com website we found that the Van Der Steur Racing team in the USA has put the word out that they are looking for potential drivers to fill the seats within their soon to be expected AMR Vantage GT4.
More akin to racing Hyundai’s within the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, this advert signals (we understand from others) a long-held desire to move up the IMSA class system to run a GT4 in which has been listed as either the Michelin Pilot Challenge Series and/or the new IMSA Sportscar Challenge.
Whilst we are all aware of the Michelin Pilot Challenge of late with Volt Racing’s Alan Brynjolfsson and Trent Hindman finally securing the overall crown at the final round of the season a month ago, this Sportscar Challenge Series is a replacement for the Prototype Challenge Series with the redefined series allowing GT4 based cars to run alongside the LMP3 based cars for the first time.
With the opening round to the IMSA sanctioned series at the Rolex 24 event at Daytona just under two months away, time is obviously now of the essence with all enquiries asked to contact the team at +1 (410) 877-4088 or at chris.deely@efcusa.com in the first instance.

AGS Events selling their entire AMR Vantage GT4 fleet
Post season is obviously the time of year that sees many race teams streamline or expand their undertakings in time for the next season that is always coming at them at a vast rate of knots, but this offer on Racecarsdirect.com has us a little more concerned.
Since taking on board the Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 in time for the 2020 season, the Nicolas Gomar led team enjoyed a plethora of race and championship winning success in both the GT4 European Series and their national FFSA GT4 Series over the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
Having expanded their AMR squad up to four cars in time for the start of last season, this year has been nothing short of a painful experience for the French team with no championship success this time around in either the GT4 European or FFSA GT4 Series with a constant stream of technical issues blighting and then abruptly ending their planned campaigns.
Selling all four available cars could of course just be them resetting themselves as a whole in time for next season, but we fear that the reason is probably nearer the mark of realigning themselves to another brand.

The end of the road for one - the beginning of a journey for another!
It started so well for the Deranged Motorsport team in the GT Cup Championship with a class pole position followed up with a class win on the opening day of the new season, but this listing confirms the end of the road for this endeavour.
Acquiring one of Academy Motorsports Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4’s over the winter, the GT Cup was to be the Deranged Team’s target arena for 2021 as drivers Oli Brown and Matt Lewis were ‘ticking’ all the right boxes on the opening day with their first class win, missing out on another class podium in another due to a Safety Car procedure transgression before retiring from the next race with (?) suspension related issues.
That was sadly that for the #52 car as it didn’t venture out into any further rounds in the Championship and this sale listing is the first of anything heard from the team since.

Not too late to grab a bargain ahead of your 2021 campaign
If you’re interested in getting a deal as you want to go racing (or just have some fun at a track) then look no further than David Appleby Engineering’s offer of two 2019 specification Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4’s for just £300k + vat for the pair!
Previously used by the team in several European series as well bespoke events such as the Dubai 24 and the Gulf 12Hr, these two cars unfortunately saw little race mileage last year but have been maintained regardless of cost by the owner and are now being offered to interested parties as a pair together with an additional spares and equipment package (with an extra charge) if required at a substantial saving to cost price.
With the global GT market getting more ‘switched on’ to the cost benefits in racing GT4 cars as opposed to higher classes of race car, these two cars would be immediately on the pace in any series around the world and is already a proven Championship winner.

Re-advertised - PROsport Racings AMR Vantage GT3's
Having been first made available for sale event before the end of last season sees this week German based PROsport Racing re-advertised for sale their pair of Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT3's that the team competed with in the ADAC GT Masters Series.
It was originally thought that the cars were disposed of when the PROsport Performance team nam went out of business - but obviously not. Now we are wondering what happened with their second AMR Vantage GT4? They retain one that PROsport Racing use in 24H Series, GT Cup Open, etc.

A piece of Aston Martin Racing history for sale
One of only ten such examples ever made by Aston Martin Racing, Racecarsdirect.com are listing for sale one such example of this rare breed - the DBR9 GT1.
Raced for the last few seasons within both the Masters Historic and the Peter Auto Endurance Legends Series, we last saw this car compete with its present owner Dominic Roschmann at the Aston Martin Festival at Le Mans in 2018 where the car finished third overall in that race behind race winners Peter Dumbreck/Chris Harris in their Aston Martin Vulcan and second placed Benny Simonsen and Lasse Sorensen in their AMR Vantage GTE.
Original built as chassis nine, this cars racing career lasting just two seasons before a substantial accident at the 2007 Spa 24hr that warranted a complete chassis change by Prodrive but despite this work, the chassis retained its DBR9/9 numbering. The damaged chassis is even included in this sale.

Still looking for that ideal Christmas gift?
Ever puzzled what to buy your motorsport fan friend as a Christmas present, then look no further than the opening pages of Racecarsdirect.com and you will soon come up with an idea to two.
Firstly, we have Barcelona based Team Virage offering one of their two recent Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4 acquisitions up for sale. Having taken possession of two such cars mid way into 2019, the team had hoped to enter both cars with long standing team customers in regional series including the SRO sanctioned GT4 South Europe Series.
From what we have seen, they have only managed to enter both cars for just one round with the main stay customers (Freddie Hunt and CO Jones as reported last week) now looking towards the teams other platform of motor racing in LMP3 so this car is now presumably surplus to their requirements.
Full details of their listing can be found HERE
The next new offering took us a little by purpose and lies in the form of the Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT3 as used this season by Ollie Wilkinson in both the British GT Championship and GT Open Series.
Operated out of the Optimum Motorsport workshop, Wilkinson went on to clinch the British GT GT3 Silver Cup prize will co driver Bradley Ellis whilst securing podium finishes, including an overall race win whilst under the tutorage of AMR factory drivers Darren Turner and Jonny Adam.
There is obviously a story yet to be confirmed behind the reason for this sale - we are certainly not going to pretend to know what it is all about but we do understand that matters may become a little clearer before the end of the year by which time we expect to have had an announcement from Wilkinson.

A rare opportunity to buy a new Vantage GT4
Being listed for sale on Racecarsdirect.com at the moment is a rare opportunity of skipping what is potentially still a very long waiting list at the Prodrive factory to secure yourself an almost mint example of a 2019 specification Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4.
Purchased by the David Appleby Engineering team, the team who prepare cars for the Generation AMR SuperRacing Team as part of a previously cancelled order from another Partner team, this chassis has only conducted a brief test at the Silverstone Circuit by the team just after they received both chassis from Prodrive earlier this year. The black Vantage in the background is the car the drivers James Holder and Matt George use in the GT4 European Series as well as the French FFSA GT Championships and will be retained by the team.
Since then, the car has only been taken to race events being competed in by Holder and George as a rolling spare but now the car is being offered for sale.
This was the car that TF Sport had enquired about using last weekend had they not been able to resolve the fuel tank/pump issue that was being experienced on the #97 car after Qualifying at Brands Hatch on Saturday. That request was never made in the end as firstly the problem was eventually rectified but also because the car may not have been allowed to run with TF Sport anyway at the Brands Hatch event due to the former chassis having already qualified.
We also understand that had David Appleby Engineering not have purchased the chassis when they did then it may well have ended up in the British GT Championship as part of a three car team effort and then, that team wasn't the only ones after it!!!
Always next year.........................!!
