GT4 American concludes at IMS with a podium haul for the seven Aston Martin runners
Sadly, there was no title defence of Michael Dalton’s and Robbie Foley’s crown from last year as the multi-classed American GT4 series had stepped up another notch this year with a more competitive and bigger grid than that of last year. Despite not being in a position to win a Class outright, the seven Aston’s made it their most productive meeting of the season so far to go home with a collective nine trophy haul between them.
Due to the Intercontinental GT Challenge eight-hour affair taking place over the weekend, the two final races of the Sprint X series were run over both Wednesday and Thursday with the supporting GT America Series then filling in the blanks between then and Saturday.
The biggest news of the week thus far was the late news that Valentin Hasse-Clot would be competing in #59 WR Racing AMR GT4 with Paul Terry and instead of Owen Trinkler followed up by the return of the #888 Zelus Motorsport Aston of Sean Whalen and Tigh Issac after their GT America debut at Watkins Glen and the presence of the #09 Automatic Racing car of Mikel Miller and Paul Kiebler who were also due to compete in the IGTC eight-hour affair later in the weekend.
Problems with ride height for the #15 Bsport Racing Aston Martin of Bryan Putt and Kenton Koch during Qualifying consigned them to the rear of the grid in both races but on reflection, that would stir both drivers up into producing two outstanding displays that would earn them a podium result in both races.
The brothers at Dexter Racing had started their Silver Cup AMR GT4 America quest on the podium at the first time of asking at Sonoma but despite some challenges along the way – technical with the car or in avoidable accidents, they showed great character and tenacity to come back again and take away a class podium in the final race of the season having had to give up a chance in the opening race due to an incident where their engine exhaust was pushed into the cockpit of the car making for unsafe conditions for Ryan Dexter after their compulsory stop.
A small change in the AMR’s balance of performance may have helped these results to take place but we were told that it was a simple engine mapping increase, adding just a handful of horsepower more but then being countered with additional ballast within the car!
That may have been all that was needed for the #59 WR Racing crew of Terry and Hasse-Clot as the young Parisian took to the hollowed American racetrack like a duck to water. “Being a professional driver, learning the circuit on a sim was what was needed and expected of him” he commented later on.
Taking over the car from Terry in P10 overall / P3 in class, an overall win for the Frenchman in his first ever visit to the USA would have been sensational but it was Kenton Koch who gave him a reality check in local experience with his #15 car, passing by the #59 around the outside of a corner as the #59 ran out of tyres to for him to claim P2 in class with the #59 consigned to P3 in class!
There was further success for the Aston Martin contingent further back in the Am class as the #09 Automatic crew had their best results to date with a class P2, just ahead of the #888 Zelus Aston Martin who finished P3 in class in their first pit stop race together.
If that wasn’t enough, then there was the final race of the season on Thursday were Hasse-Clot secured overall Pole Position for the #59 car with Andrew Davis in his #2 GMG Racing Aston Martin not too far behind in P3!
Although the #09 Automatic car would drop out of the race after the opening lap, Hasse-Clot would go on to show just how fast he can be as he eked out a 5-6 second gap to the chasing pack around the 2.59-mile circuit still wet in places from an earlier downpour.
Another start from the rear of the grid for the #15 car and another outstanding drive form Koch to go through the pack to be as high as P3 at the stop! Although Terry did initially retain the race lead, he would eventually lose the race lead with just four minutes remaining but would come home second overall and first in the Pro-Am Class.
Joining these guys on the final round of podium celebrations would be the #062 Dexter Racing pair of Ryan and Warren Dexter after their P3 Silver Cup class finish with a final P3 in class for both the #15 Bsport Racing crew of Koch and Putt and the #888 Zelus Motorsport crew of Whalen and Isaac again!!
It’s been another year of fantastic racing with multiple Aston Martin Racing teams running with the support of CSJ Motorsport again and from what we have been hearing about the state of play in North America, 2022 might just get a lot busier for them too!!

Busy weekend for Jason Bell with an 8hr race in the Intercontinental GT Challenge
Quickly becoming one of the premier events on the GT World Challenge America calendar, the Indianapolis 8-Hour will take place this coming weekend at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Competing with the GMG Racing Aston Martin outfit will be 2021 Pirelli GT4 America three-time race winner Jason Bell, GT front-runner Trent Hindman and the always fast and competitive Andrew Davis, who has been Jason Bell’s co-driver throughout the 2020 and 2021 SprintX programs.
“After racing this event in 2020, it was one that I circled on my calendar when the schedule was announced earlier this year,” explained Jason Bell. “I would trade all the wins during my career to kiss the bricks at Indy, and I think we have the opportunity to do that this weekend. We have the team and the car behind us, and we have one of the best driver lineups. We just need to have the speed and luck to see if we can win at the iconic Speedway.”
“Apart from both competing in the Aston GT4 this year, there has been one main component shared between the JBR/GMG and VOLT racing teams this year, and that’s our engineer Chris Andrews,” added Trent Hindman, who will join Bell and Davis in Indy. “Chris has been a phenomenal asset to both teams for quite some time now, and I appreciate his effort in having me aboard with Jason and Andrew in the Indianapolis 8H. These guys have been ultra-competitive all year, and I hope to continue their run of success working alongside Chris, Andrew, Jason, and the GMG team.”
“We have a pretty stout lineup and look forward to getting on track at IMS,” added Davis. “We were fast here in 2020 and felt like we have learned a lot and learned more as a team throughout the 2021 season. Add Trent to our lineup and I think we have the depth, speed, consistency and experience to fight for the victory.”
“I’m very excited to return to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for another Intercontinental GT Indy 8-Hour with JBR/GMG Racing,” added Andrew Davis. “Last year, Jason Bell and I finished our season spraying some champagne on the hallowed podium of IMS. Our aim is to be doing the same thing this year! We have been making some great progress with our #2 JBR Aston Martin Vantage GT4 over the last several GT4 America events, as evident with Jason’s string of recent victories in GT Challenge. So, we feel confident to take the fight to the competitive field of GT4 entries for this year’s event. The addition of Trent Hindman to our driver line up is also exciting, we are looking forward to the value he will add to the event. Lastly, I want to thank Jason Bell, GMG Racing, and all of our sponsors for this amazing opportunity.”
It will be a jam-packed weekend for Bell as not only will he compete in the Indianapolis 8-Hour, but the Floridian driver will also take part in the GT America program as well as the Pirelli GT4 America SprintX.
Bell continued, “Competing in multiple races over the same event is nothing new for me. This season we have had four races on any given weekend while last year, we had as many as seven wheel-to-wheel races at select locations. Either way it will be a long week of racing, and I would not have it any other way.”
On track action will begin Wednesday and continue throughout the end of the weekend. Stay tuned to the Jason Bell Racing social media pages for news, information, photos and results from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

One lap the difference at IMS
Having already competed in a full race weekend with the SRO sanctioned GT4 America Series where team regular drivers Matt Dalton and Pat Gallagher enjoyed the success of an overall Pole Position and class podium by the end of the final Sprint X Pro-Am race of that season, the red, white and black Aston was soon out again in the IGTC event alongside ten other GT4 cars which made up for nearly half of the grid with the other, larger GT3 entries.
Joined by Jonathon Taylor, the #33 car would Qualify second in class behind the pace setting #8 Audi R4 LMS GT4 by the time that each driver has entered a competitive lap time.
With then Mother Nature coming into play in the early stages of the race with her intermittent rainfall, the #33 car would enjoy long sessions at the head of the field as they managed to avoid the adversity around the 3.93km IMS infield circuit that others still managed to find despite the relatively small entry with the car only falling away from the lead lap in the latter stages of the 8 hour endurance.
Despite fighting their own little technological battles along the way like when the in-car radio failed with Taylor at the wheel (which needed just a little bit of trackside improvisation), the #33 would come away at chequered flag with the fastest GT4 lap overall and a P4 finish – just one lap the first and second placed BMW’s and the third placed Porsche Cayman.
A great result for a small team all round, a team that has suffered from its own problems in transposing to the Aston Martin at the start of the season. Where these guys go from here is of course up for debate now that the SRO has split the GT4 Sprint X from the Sprint Series and merged it in with the new for 2021 GT America GT3/GT4 Series.

Flying Lizards fly high in GT4 America finale
Competing at the spiritual home of American motor racing at the final round of the SRO sanctioned GT4 America Series, the Aston Martin Racing teams competing within the Series Sprint and Sprint X classes signed off the season on a high.
Having already secured the Sprint Am Driver’s Championship at the previous round at the Circuit of The Americas two weeks ago, the Flying Lizard Motorsport team still had some Championships to both defend and attack at the Series reached the Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this week.
Having already secured the Sprint Am Driver’s Championship at the previous round at the Circuit of The Americas two weeks ago, the Flying Lizard Motorsport team still had some Championships to both defend and attack at the Series reached the Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this week.
In the Sprint Am Team’s Championship, their nearest rival was from the AMR stablemate team of Rearden Racing, a team that would have normally entered two of their Vantage GT4 cars for Paul Terry in Sprint and Jeff Burton in both Sprint and Sprint X. Sadly, an incurable engine issue for the #91 car very early into the weekends proceedings put pay to any racing for Jeff Burton. That left just two additional Astons from both the Rennsport 1 Notlad Racing team for Matt Dalton and Pat Gallagher and the #15 BSport Aston for Bryan Putt and AMR Academy Driver Kenton Koch for each of the remaining Sprint X races.
With no more at stake that personal/team pride and achievement left for the #33 and #15 cars, all eyes were on to see if Michael Dinan (with his Pro co-driver in Sprint X) could stand the pressures going into the final rounds at add to his Sprint Am Championship win.
Thursday’s first Sprint and Sprint X races left that looking difficult, although still very much achievable, as contact and a spin into the gravel in Sprint and an error of judgement in the pit lane during the first Sprint X race left the Flying Lizards #210 and #21 cars at the back of the field come the chequered flag after having been dug out by the corner workers and having served their drive through penalty respectively. The only positive from these was that their finishing gained them valuable Championship points.
The second and final Sprint X race of the season came early on Saturday morning with the teams literally warming up their cars and drivers in the still dark and chilly Indiana morning.
This time it was the turn of the #33 RS1 Notlad Aston to lead off the cars from the front after pat Gallagher gave them pole position having secured the fastest lap of the first race with Foley right behind likewise in P2. Despite having scored another Sprint X podium in Race 1, the #15 BSport Racing Aston down in P7
With caution periods again taking time out of the race clock, the resulting restarts eventually cost the #33 car the race lead but for the #21 Flying Lizard car, their eventual overall race win was enough for them to snatch the Sprint X Pro-Am title from the NolasSport team despite them finishing a close second.
Later in the day, the second and final Sprint race would be held with again Dinan and Terry pushing themselves all the way like they have this year but once Dinan pulled away from the chasing Rearden car and 70% race distance had been completed for the team to also secure the Sprint Am Team’s title the fun began. Chasing down the McLaren factory driver of Michael Cooper all the way to the flag, a great exit off the final corner allowed the Aston to out-draft the 570s to snatch a P2 overall finish at the death.
The results of this weekend have left the Flying Lizard, Rearden Racing, BSport Racing and Rennsport 1 Notlad teams in the following Championship positions: -
P1 Sprint Am Drivers Championship winner – Michael Dinan (Flying Lizards)
P2 Sprint Am Drivers Championship – Paul Terry (Rearden Racing)
P3 Sprint Am Drivers Championship – Jeff Burton (Rearden Racing)
P1 Sprint Am Teams Championship winners – Flying Lizards
P2 Sprint Am Team Championship – Rearden Racing
P1 Sprint X Pro-Am Drivers Championship winners – Michael Dinan/Robbie Foley (Flying Lizards)
P5 Sprint X Pro-Am Drivers Championship – Bryan Putt/Kenton Koch (BSPort Racing)
P8 Sprint X Pro-Am Drivers Championship – Matt Dalton/Pat Gallagher (RS1/Notlad Racing)
P10 Sprint X Pro-Am Divers Championship – Jeff Burton/Vesko Kozarov (Rearden Racing)
P1 Sprint X Pro-Am Teams Championship winners – Flying Lizards
P4 Sprint X Pro-Am Teams Championship – Rennsport 1
P6 Sprint X Pro-Am Teams Championship – BSport Racing
P8 Sprint X Pro-Am Teams Championship – Rearden Racing
Congratulations and well done to you all for such a cracking season and exciting racing despite everything that has been thrown at you, the teams and society in general over the year. Hope to see you all back again next year too!!

Titles still to be won at final round of GT4 America (UPDATED)
Having started way back at the beginning of March, the SRO GT4 America Series reaches its concluding round from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend after a gruelling five round season so far where the Series has played catch up with the global situation.
Starting off at the Circuit of the Americas, the Series came to a sudden stop with cars actually on track at the their intended second round from St Petersburg as something called COVID-19 locked down the continental United States.
Not starting up again until nearly four months later at the picturesque Virginia International Raceway did the four teams running the 2019 specification of Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4 car get to race again within the Series Sprint and Sprint X arenas. Sadly, the ongoing travel restrictions came at a cost as the Canadian based Roberts Racing team was unable to re-enter the USA because of COVID-19 precautions meaning that the former British GT GT4 Championship winning GT4 from the Beechdean AMR team would not be seen again after their early audition at CoTA.
With AMR cars entered by the Rearden Racing, BSport Racing, Rennsport 1 Notlad Racing and Flying Lizard teams, the new Aston GT4 has been nothing short of dominating in both the Am side of the Sprint Class and in the Pro-Am side of Sprint X.

UPDATE - Jeff Burton will not be competing this weekend after terminal engine damage was sustained during an earlier session
Flying Lizards Michael Dinan has run an incredible near 100% podium success rate – only missing out through technical issues or being absent from the racetrack like he was on day two of three at CoTA two weeks ago. From that performance, Dinan secured the Sprint Am Drivers Championship at that event despite having missed one day of racing.
In addition to that, the final two races at IMS in both the Sprint and Sprint X remain critical to all contending teams as the Sprint Am Teams Championship and Sprint X Pro-Am Drivers and Sprint X Pro-Am Teams Championships remain up for grabs with Rearden Racing being the closest contenders in Sprint Am Teams and Dinan and co-driver Robbie Foley being just three points down in the Sprint X Pro-Am Drivers title hunt.
Other runnings who have enjoyed podium success along the way include the Rearden Racing #59 of Paul Terry and the #91 of Jeff Burton. Burton has struggled most recently with accident damage and whilst Terry must be ruing the errors made in earlier rounds that lost him valuable points as the season progressed. The #15 AMR of BSport Racings Bryan Putt and AMR Academy Driver Kenton Koch have progressed massively over the season as they got to grips with their Aston Martin and only a pre-event testing accident kept them away from another podium finish last time out at CoTA.
That leaves the beautiful liveried #33 Rennsport 1 Notlad Racing AMR of Matt Dalton and Pat Gallagher. Having switched to the Aston at the start of the season it has taken Dalton a bit longer to find ‘the grove’ but their persistence was rewarded with a class Sprint X P3 podium in the first race at Road America. This team will not be competing in the final two races of the GT4 America Series as they have entered the banner event at the weekend in the eight hour Intercontinental GT Challenge.
UPDATE - The #33 is now competing again within its usual GT4 America Sprint X class this weekend.
In a grid of approximately twenty three cars, the #33 Aston Martin is the sole AMR present in the event with the full IGTC entries electing not to travel to the USA. Gallagher and Dalton will be joined by Jonathon Taylor in the field of ten GT4 cars.

Flying Lizard Motorsport and Michael Dinan secure GT4 America Sprint crown
“This has really been an amazing season for us,” said Program Manager Darren Law. “Focusing on not only good results every weekend but also keeping the big picture of the Championships in mind has been a priority for us and to have already clinched the Drivers Championship with Michael Dinan in the Sprint class with one weekend to go is a testament to the entire effort.
The SRO GT4 class is so competitive and there are a lot of great teams and drivers. With all of the changes in the series schedule a lot of pressure was put on the team and drivers this year. Michael has come a long way in a short time as a driver and Robby Foley has been a very big part of this. They work well together and Robby’s mentoring of Michael is really showing.
Sprint Race One
Knowing he would only be able to participate in two of the three races in the weekend, Dinan and Flying Lizard Motorsport entered Sprint race one with the goal to maximize as much as possible. He started third overall, and got shuffled back a few positions as the field aggressively made it through the opening turns. Holding second in class with a comfortable gap ahead and behind, he charged from fourth overall. He made quick work of his gap to the #91 of Jeff Burton, the Am class leader. With 22 minutes remaining, he made the pass and easily pulled away, with no pressure from behind, taking his first win of the weekend.
Sprint Race Three
Due to a family commitment, Michael Dinan missed Saturday’s race activities, tightening the battle for the Sprint and SprintX driver and team championships. The absence forced Dinan to start the No. 210 Aston Martin from the rear of the field, though as soon as the green flag waved, he charged forward, passing two cars by the exit of turn two. The following lap, he gained another position, executing every corner to get closer to Paul Terry. Terry did everything he could to keep the Rearden Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 as far ahead from Dinan as possible, but with every lap, Dinan continued to inch closer. With less than 20 minutes remaining, Dinan had made it to the front pack, engaging in a three way battle for the Am class lead. He made it to the front just before a full course caution came out, resulting in the field being brought back together for a sprint to the finish line. Dinan stayed cool and collected, quickly creating a comfortable gap over his competitors. He finished third overall and first in class, unofficially taking the Sprint Am driver title.
SprintX Race One
Michael Dinan and Robby Foley began SprintX race standing second in the driver points with Flying Lizard leading the team championship. With just one of two races to earn points, the pressure was on to earn the best result possible. Dinan started the race in the No. 21 Aston Martin from fifth place over all. Again, shenanigans in turn one shuffled the Aston Martin back two positions in the opening turns, but an early caution period brought the field back together and Dinan close to the competition. Dinan had a good battle with the No. 63 of Ben Anderson, eventually taking fifth place overall and the class lead as they reached the halfway point. Foley took over the driving duties just past the halfway point, immediately joining a three way battle for fourth place overall, and advanced to fight the No. 36 of Colin Mullan for second place. At the end of the 60 minutes, Foley had secured the Am class lead, finishing second overall. The result brought the pair within three points of the SprintX pro/Am class leaders.
Remaining Championship Battles
Although Dinan clinched the Sprint Am driver championship, Flying Lizard’s battle for the Am team title continues heading into the next race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In the SprintX Pro/Am championship, Dinan and Foley remain in the fight, standing just three points behind NOLASPORT’s Jason Hart and Matt Travis. In the SprintX Team championship, Flying Lizard leads NOLSASPORT by 13 points.
“With more championships to be decided, we still have a lot on the line at the final race of the year at Indianapolis in two weeks,” concluded Law. “We are very close in points for the Sprint-X Driver and Team Championships, as well as the Team Championship in Sprint. We are also still looking for Erin to continue her run to a podium finish with Michael Cooper in Sprint-X. She has had a difficult season as far as tough luck with car issues but we had a solid run this past weekend and look to close out the year with another good run at Indianapolis.”
The final rounds of the Sprint and SprintX Championships will take place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), October 2-4. Each series will hold two final race events, and the race weekend will also be open to fans, a first for IMS this season.

Extraordinary racing at start of GT4 America at Road America
The opening salvo's into this weekends fourth round of the GT4 America Series from Road America has already produced some incredible sights and sounds as the seven Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4's from the Flying Lizard, Rearden Racing, BSport Racing And Rennsport One teams got back to business on Thursday with some private testing before the timed sessions of yesterday.
Going from the sunshine and the warmth of Thursday into the cooler and certainly wetter sessions of Friday even meant that some of the Qualifying had to be abandoned by the race organisers leaving the starting grid for the first Sprint race of yesterday being determined by the early Free Practice times.
Riding high on commitment and confidence after their near whitewashing with the race results at the last round at Sonoma a couple of weeks ago, the two Rearden cars of Paul Terry (#59), Jeff Burton (#191) and the highest placed AMR runner in the Championship, Michael Dinan in his now yellow accented #210 car looked 'racey' from the off at the start of Fridays first 50 minute Sprint race.
Terry found himself starting from P2 on the grid and amongst the Pro cars whilst Dinan was uncharacteristically down in P12 (Free Practice times remember) with Burton just behind him in P13.
With visibility being an obvious issue, the race started behind the Safety Car so that the drivers could pick out the standing water on track as the race then got off to a 'controlled' start by all after being waved off. During the opening two race laps, Dinan piled in the speed into the soaking wet circuit, full of confidence as he elevated himself from P12 to P4 - taking Terry for position in the process.
Just before the halfway mark, the Sin R1 car spun itself off on the exit of a corner and into (fortunately) an extensive tyre wall meaning that a Full Course Caution then Safety Car was needed for its extraction. With the Am class drivers now watching where each was going to catch and maintain their speed, Terry was learning from watching Dinan ahead whilst Burton was doing the same as he had risen up to P8 overall.
On the restart, Burton was a little too eager on the exit of turn 1 and spun off dropping himself down to P12 as Dinan initially let the top three Pro class cars go and race his own Class battle with Terry before circumstance and the errors of others had lifted the #210 car up to P2 overall.
With ten minutes remaining, Burton put in couple of fastest laps in the race as he looked to improve upon his then P8 position after taking confidence in passing two cars in two corners earlier but with just five minutes remaining, the #191 ran out of track (literally). Having passed one McLaren, he tried it with another but that driver appeared unsighted to Burton's position on track - the two cars touched and both became passengers into two very expensive looking race accidents.
As a result of that incident the race would ultimately finish under caution with Dinan eventually finishing P3 overall and P1 in Am Class with the #59 Paul Terry car finishing just behind in P4 overall and P2 in Class for another AMR 1-2 on the podium.
For the #191 car - the damage was apparently significant and the team will have their work cut out to repair it in time for any of the weekends remaining Sprint races.
Next out for the GT4's was the opening round of the longer, one hour race with driver change Sprint X Series with four AMR Vantage's destined to race within it - although that wasn't quite the case.
A 'technical issue' for Jeff Burtons second car meant that he and Vesko Kosarov were absent from the grid so that left Dinan/Michael Foley starting from P2, the #15 BSport Racing car of Bryan Putt/Kenton Koch P10 and a revitalised #33 Rennsport One car of Matt Dalton/Pat Gallagher in P17 - 22 cars from the original 29 cars that 'entered' the event!. One such car that would be missing from the event following an earlier incident would be the Panoz that Roman de Angelis (Heart of Racing Vantage GTD driver) although his team mate Ian James would still be running in his Panoz GT4.
At least the rain had stopped and the track dried ready for the start of the race as everyone strived to survive the opening corners of the tight and undulating circuit.
The race appeared to be settling down nicely into its own little battles as the #21 Flying Lizard car of Dinan suddenly tumbled down the timing screen from their then P3 position. Circuit cameras eventually picked them out on the grass going into the kink with what looked like no power to the wheel and that incident brought out the Safety Car as the corner workers looked to quickly retrieve it back to a place of safety. The team would later confirm that track debris had been lifted upon by the car infant of Dinan and that had hit the emergency kill switch for the engine, leaving Dinan with no power and no method of resetting it himself!!
By the time the available pit stop window was at an end, the decent in laps of their Am's and the out laps of their Pro's had lifted the #15 car up to P7 and the #33 up to P14 but the body language of each AMR car on track said that neither would be settling for these positions with still 20 minutes of racing ahead of them.
Making the most of their new V8 power plant at the front Gallagher was on a mission to avenge the nightmare that they had at Sonoma where an earlier accident in testing went on to affect the whole racing meeting with two DNF's as well as not even making the start of race 3 that weekend.
AMR Drivers Academy driver Kenton Koch also had the race carrot dangling in front of him as he had an overall race podium beaconing. Ath the chequered flag, the #15 BSport Racing car finished P3 overall and P2 in Pro-Am whilst the #33 Rennsport One car literally snatched P10 overall at the flag but more importantly for them - claiming P3 in Pro-Am as well.
Great opening race and we couldn't be happier for either of them - but tomorrow is always another day!

Championship leads to maintain and points to make up for AMR teams at Road Atlanta
Another triple header from the SRO sanctioned GT4 America Series comes our way this weekend with the Sprint and Sprint X classes having made their way over most of the width of the USA from Sonoma in California two weeks ago to Road Atlanta in Georgia for another race programme that starts this Friday.
Sonoma saw an almost Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4 domination in the Sprint races Am Class with spoils shared between the Flying Lizard car of Michael Dinan, the Rearden Racing cars of Jeff Burton and Paul Terry as well as the Flying Lizard car of Dinan and Robbie Foley and the BSport Racing Vantage of Bryan Putt and Kenton Koch in the Sprint X races.
The only AMR racing team that didn't fair so well two weeks ago was the #33 RS1 Notland Racing pairing of Matt Dalton and Pat Gallagher after Dalton suffered a sizeable accident during Free Practice that, despite its overnight rebuild, suffered from cooling issues during the two races it managed to enter followed by a DNS for the final race.
Since then, we understand that the team have replaced the V8 power plant within the #33 car as a quicker process than trying to identify the cause of their overheating issues with the old engine still in location as well as re-covering the bare carbon front end bodywork with their distinctive red, white and black colour scheme. A subsequent shake down test has also been conducted by the team before they shipped out for Braselton.
Fifteen cars are due to feature within the weekends three - fifty minute single driver Sprint races including again the #59 Paul Terry and #191 Jeff Burton cars from the Rearden Racing stable together with the #210 Flying Lizard car for Michael Burton as the Series still plays catch up with events missed due to the lockdown in the USA in early summer.
Then for the three - hour long compulsory stop with driver change Sprint X races we expected the #15 BSport Racing car for Bryan Putt/Kenton Koch, #21 Flying Lizard for Michael Dinan/Robbie Foley, #33 RS1 Notland Racing car for Matt Dalton/Pat Gallagher and the #91 Rearden car for Jeff Burton.Vesko Kozarov. Amongst the full twenty four car entry you will also scan over the names of Ian James and Roman de Angelis taking part in the GT4 Series for the first time this season but this time swapping their IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship AMR Vantage GTD for that of a Panoz Esperante Avezzano that each will race in the Pro-Am with another co-driver each.
With a track diary that starts as early as tomorrow morning for the Sprint and Sprint X runners, we have already seen that Rearden Racing have been at the circuit getting in some vital test and set up mileage over the weekend before Wednesday makes three private testing sessions available to the teams before they move onto officially times sessions on Thursday with Qualifying and Race 1 of each on Friday. Fastest laps per race then denote each cars starting position in the next.
In the Championship standings to date, the Flying Lizard and Rearden Racing teams hold a commanding one-two position respectively in the Sprint Am Class whilst Flying Lizards look to chase down a 16 point deficit in to the Sprint X Pro-Am table going into this event.
