Hexis AMR : Jean-Denis Deletraz

Thursday, February 04, 2010

After a year of transition in GT3, working on the development of the Audi R8 LMS, Jean-Denis Deletraz is happy to announce his participation in the FIA GT1 World Championship. After four years with Phoenix Racing Deletraz is joining Hexis AMR, the team which won the 2009 FIA GT3 European Teams Championship.

Jean-Denis said: "I would like to thank Phoenix Racing and Ernst Moser for the four years of collaboration and success we have shared. A strong friendship and mutual respect remains. The future and our programmes may allow us to work together in the future. However, my future is 2010, the new World GT Championship, with the FIA label (like Formula One and Rally), 24 cars, 6 manufacturers, sprint races and qualifying sessions during which both drivers are involved. Although I am not a fan of the new format (two one-hour races), as GT for me is synonymous with endurance and strategy, I must admit that in the current economic climate these new rules and new World Championship status have allowed a very high level field to be gathered together.

"The season looks to be thrilling with battles on all fronts," he continued. "The manufacturers and cars present are: Aston Martin DBR9, Lamborghini Murcielago, Maserati MC12, Corvette C6R, Nissan GTR-Rs and Ford GT. Hexis AMR, with its European GT3 title and its long collaboration with Aston Martin Racing, has been entrusted with two of the four Aston Martin cars, the magnificent DBR9. I will have the good fortune to share my car with Fred Makowiecki, a long-standing Hexis driver, but also one of the fastest GT drivers in the world. His speed and my experience should make an excellent cocktail – our rivals should be warned!"
