Successful end of season for Aston Martin at the Nürburgring

Along with much better weather conditions than previous races, Aston Martin celebrated a successful close to the season at the 35th DMV Münsterlandpokal; the tenth and last round of the German VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft 2010 with a class win and two second places.

In the SP 10 class, Uwe Nittel and Wolfgang Weber from Team Mathol Racing drove a solid race with their V8 Vantage to take the class win with their team colleagues crossing the line for a second place finish.

The Aston Martin works entry with a V12 Vantage nicknamed Woody driven by Nürburgring Test Centre Director, Wolfgang Schuhbauer and Horst von Saurma, Editor of the German Sportauto magazine came home in second place in the SP8 class.

Schuhbauer who was pleased with the team’s result said: “During the practice laps, we aimed to optimise the aero on our car, so that we could achieve a better balance during the race. It paid off with much more consistent and faster laps.

“We go into the winter break now and look forward to the continued reliable and durable performance of our cars next season.”

Horst von Saurma said: “The V12 Vantage’s performance has improved throughout the season, I have never been as quick with the V12 Vantage around the Nordschleife as I was today.”
In the 10 rounds of the VLN series 2010, Aston Martin has achieved an incredible eight class wins, eight second places and three third places.
