Friday, March 09, 2012

Aston Martin has a long tradition at Le Mans, in 1959 they won outright with the DB1 and in 2007 & 2008 with the DBR9 in GT1. This year, in collaboration with the ACO, Aston Martin is organizing the "Aston Martin Racing Festival", a race excessively for Aston Martin GT cars built from 2006 to present in each category: GT1; GT2; GT3 and GT4.

Villois Racing will take the opportunity to race their GT3 DBRS9s at Le Mans. The event will mean a week of hard work for the team. Tuesday will be split between the paddock assembly and sport/technical checks, Wednesday free practice, qualifying on Thursday, walkway of honour along city streets with photo and autograph sessions on Friday and Saturday the race-day. There will be about two hundred thousand spectators who will personally experiencing the event, day and night, placed all along the circuit. Worldwide broadcasting and press coverage.

Chicco Villois: “Participating to this competition is a great honour for my team and me. Experiencing the rhythms, timetables and strict rules of the weekend will be a good test that will give us additional experience and motivation to steadily improve our work process. Of course the thought has often turned to the objective of being able to take soon part to the 24 hours in a competitive manner. In this case, another step in the right direction was made.

Regarding the Drivers the situation has  still not been defined. The team registered just the cars. I think a race like this should  be carefully evaluated by those who feel ready for this challenge and  then contacts will be taken!”

Villois will join around 30 other Aston Martins including two GT1 DBR9 and the new V12 Vantage GT3.
