Updated: Villois Racing back in GT Open with Aston Martin

Sunday, April 22, 2012

GT Open regulars, Villois Racing will return to the series this year with their V8 Vantage GT2 before switching to the new V12 Vantage Super GT from the second round of the championship. The V12 Vantage Super GT will be built under the current GTE/GT2 rules and based of the new Vantage GTE, however the car will feature the Aston Martin's V12 engine rather than the normal V8 of the current GTE Vantage.

Villois were the first team to win with the GT2 spec Vantage at Brands Hatch in 2010 and will be looking to repeat their success in the 2012 season. Matteo Malucelli will return to the team with 2010 champion, Alvaro Barba completing the line up.

The Italian team will also enter the Aston Martin Racing Festival at Le Mans which will see Villois join over 30 other Aston Martins including two GT1 DBR9 and the new V12 Vantage GT3.

The GT Open season will get underway at Portimao April 29th.
