Sao Paul debut for AMattheis V12 Vantage

After evaluating their new car, AMattheis have decided to debut their V12 Vantage GT3 in the next round of the Brazilian Top Series in Sao Paulo.

"The Aston has a much stronger engine and although the Lamborghini has an aerodynamic and mechanical advantage, overall, the Aston is much better on the tires and delivers a quicker lap time," explains Xandinho Negrao. For Team Manager, Andreas Mattheis, the new car meets all requirements of an endurance racer. "The good surprise is that it uses 10% less fuel than a Lamborghini," says Andreas."The concept is different from the Lambo. It is a front engined car, but the engine is behind the axle, while the transmission, clutch and differential is in the rear of the car. This ensures an optimal 50/50 weight distribution. In the Lamborghini, which is mid engined, the front is lighter, it’s faster through faster the corner, but at the same time had higher tire wear" adds Andreas.

The lap times of the Aston Martin Vantage also surprised Xandy and Xandinho, with the car lapping in the region of 1 minuet 09 seconds during testing in Rio de Janeiro.

"The car was difficult to start with, but slowly we adapted the settings to the circuit and improved the set-up until we had the car quite competitive: the more we drive, the more we’ll learn about it - and that goes for us, racers, and also to Andreas, "said Xandinho.

The Farther and son duo currently hold second place in the Top Series Championship after the first two rounds. The champion will resume at Sao Paulo July 22nd.
