Adam ready to make his bow on the world stage

Monday, August 20, 2012

Jonny Adam will take another major step forward in his rise through the ranks of sportscar racing when he makes his debut for Aston Martin Racing at the Six Hours of Silverstone this weekend (August 24-26).

The event is a fixture of the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship, and following hot on the heels of their outing at the recent 24 Hours of Spa the Scottish ace and regular British GT team-mate Andrew Howard are looking forward to clocking up yet more valuable experience competing at the highest level.

The tried-and-tested Beechdean Motorsport pairing of Adam and Howard will be joined in the V8-powered Aston Martin Vantage GTE with experienced sportscar racer Paul White for the prestigious race at the home of British motorsport.

“Not only is it exciting to be making my debut in official Aston Martin colours, but to be doing it at the team’s  home circuit against some of the best endurance racing drivers in the world is an awesome prospect,” said Adam.

“It’s been a really busy spell over the past few weeks with racing at Spa, then Snetterton and preparing for this, but I am loving every minute because as a racing driver I want to test myself at the highest level against the best drivers.

“At Spa I did a lot of the night running and that was hugely valuable experience, and now I’m getting a taste of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE which you have to drive differently from the V12 GT3 we’re used to in the British GT championship.  It all helps you to push yourself forward and I can’t wait to get to Silverstone this weekend.

“Our preparation in the build-up to this event has been excellent, it’s a circuit I know really well and is like a second home round for me after Knockhill, so there will be plenty of support in the stands too. All the ingredients are there for me to be able to go out, drive hard and show everyone what I can do.”
