Beechdean Motorsport: Never give up

Sunday, September 09, 2012

The tail end of the British summer graced Silverstone with a glorious weekend for the penultimate round of the British GT season.

An eventful qualifying session led to the Beechdean Aston Martin sitting in 2nd position for the race ahead. Qualifying above championship leader David Ashburn in the Trackspeed Porsche and just behind Griffin & Cameron in the Mtech Ferrari who currently sit in 2nd place in the overall standings. The session was not without incident however as the Beechdean Aston Martin clashed with the Team WFR GT4 leaving them with some damage.

Sundays 3 hour race began with a bang as the first corner led to another altercation with Team WFR and the Beechdean Aston Martin. This time it was the GT3 with Riki Christodoulou at the wheel. This put the Aston Martin of Howard dead last. Over the next 6 laps howard worked his way from 32nd to 12th with some no holds barred driving. The Aston caught up and overtook the BMW that would eventually finish 2nd.
Braking failure eventually caused the Beechdean Aston Martin to pit, a broken rear caliper from the first corner incident was the cause. The 24 hour race proven team did a great job to change the brake caliper and get the car out but sadly 5 laps down on the leaders. The car finished the race 3 laps down from the eventual winners, a great never give up attitude.

Looking ahead to the final race of the season the championship may be out of reach but a final win of the season is certainly the target.
