Youngsters joining Beechdean GT4

Wednesday, March 04, 2015

Reigning British GT4 champions, Beechdean AMR, return to the Avon British GT championship with young talents Jamie Chadwick and Ross Gunn.

The championship looks very competitive for the GT4 field, with the grid size increasing from 2014. The Beechdean team, supported with Aston Martin Racing, are thrilled to introduce another strong pair of youngsters into GT racing in what is arguably one of the toughest GT line ups in the history of British GT.

Female driver Jamie Chadwick has had two successful years in the TOCA supported Ginetta junior championship, after winning the scholarship in 2013. The 16 year old Gloucestershire based driver tested the championship winning Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage in November, and showed great potential, marking her as a GT talent for the future.

BRDC F4 race winner Ross Gunn from High Wycombe joins the local Beechdean Motorsport team in what will be his debut season in British GT. The Double British Kart Champion makes the switch over to sportscars and at only 18 years old it outlines his plans to be a potential GT star.

Jamie Chadwick “It’s brilliant to be joining the championship-winning Beechdean Aston Martin Racing team, and to be racing in British GT this year. I drove the car last year and immediately felt comfortable and we’ve worked hard since then to put together the best deal with the best people.  With the Beechdean Aston Martin Racing team, Ross as team mate, Jonny as coach and BGT Champion Andrew as mentor, plus that fantastic Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 car, I’m confident that we have a formidable combination. It’s going to be a challenging year ahead but I’m up for it and looking forward to doing my very best!"

Ross Gunn “I am thrilled to be joining Beechdean AMR for an assault on the 2015 British GT4 title. After several years of discussions, it makes me very proud to finally be joining a team with a rapidly growing presence within the motorsport industry.  I am very grateful for the faith that Andrew Howard and Beechdean AMR have shown in me for the 2015 season. I have been working very hard over the past year to move into GT racing, and this is the perfect platform for me to showcase what I can do. I am also looking forward to racing alongside another up and coming star, Jamie Chadwick.”

Andrew Howard “I am extremely excited with signing both Jamie and Ross for our British GT4 campaign in 2015. It’s great to see youngsters coming into sportscars and our aim is to give both drivers the platform to demonstrate their skills in British GT this year. We had a fantastic 2014 by winning the Championship and our goal is to have another successful season in 2015 with Jamie and Ross.”

Beechdean AMR will begin their testing program this week, ready for the first round over Easter weekend at Oulton Park, Chester.
