TF Sport looking to finish season on a high

Friday, September 11, 2015

TF Sport will be looking to scale the Avon Tyres British GT Championship’s winners’ rostrum for a third consecutive meeting when the series reaches its conclusion at the East Midland’s history-rich Donington Park this weekend (12-13 September).

Up until Brands Hatch, TF Sport’s season was not wholly representative of the team’s strength and depth driver pairings of Andrew Jarman and Jody Fannin in the Eurostar-liveried Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 and Matt Bell and Derek Johnston in the sister car.

That was until Bell and Johnston broke that unlucky streak to stand on the podium at its home circuit and kickstart a highly successful second half of the season for the Surrey outfit.

With confidence high in the camp, the team will be eager to finish the season on a high having claimed three podiums in the previous three meetings, not to mention a pole position in the hands of Jarman.

Situated on the boarder of Derbyshire and Leicestershire, Donington Park is favoured by both Bell and Johnston, who are expecting yet another strong result at the chequered flag, after undertaking a successful test at the East Midlands circuit where they were able to find an optimal base set-up for their V12 Vantage GT3.

“We’ve had a hard year this year, as a team and it was nice to show what we are capable of at Snetterton and hopefully we can carry that momentum into this weekend,” said Bell. “Going into Donington Park, which is my favourite circuit and Derek’s (Johnston) home circuit, we have no time penalty to contend with and are in a positive frame of mind.”

Finally breaking their own podium duck in Norfolk in spectacular style by securing a debut pole position and converting that into a runner-up finish, Jarman and Fannin will be hoping to ride that wave of momentum into the season finale.

"It was a relief to finally get on the podium at Snetterton and I’m hoping that we’ll be at the sharp end again at Donington,” said Fannin. “It is a flowing circuit, which I like and it should suit our Aston. I can’t believe it’s the last round of the championship already and we hope to end it with another good result."

TF Sport Director, Tom Ferrier, said: “We as a team have really enjoyed working with all four drivers this season. We feel we have finally reached a level in the last handful of races that shows we have the pace and skill to challenge at the fore-front and are hoping to carry that forward to the last race at Donington Park this weekend.”
