Change in BoP will help Solaris in Italian GT at Imola next weekend

Saturday, May 21, 2016

Italian GT team Solaris Motorsport will be hoping that some of the pace shown by their recent guests will rub off onto their own V12 Vantage GT3 when they visit Imola for the second round of the Italian GT Series next weekend.

Having made their workshop facilities available earlier this month for TF Sport to complete repairs to their then damaged car prior to their opening round of the GT3 Le Mans Cup series, an event that the ES Motors sponsored car comprehensively won last weekend, Francisco Sini's team will be hoping that some of TF Sport's speed and shared data will help them when they return to Imola next week having also previously shared a test at the circuit with TF Sport.

At the opening round at Monza earlier this month Solaris qualified tenth and finished sixth in the dry first race but drivers Francesco Sini and Max Mugelli will be looking to build upon experience gained from that and the later wet second race when they finished seventh having never tested or raced in the wet with that car before.

Subsequent to the first round the Bureau Permanente Acisport (governing body) has adjusted the Balance of Performance for three of the GT3 platforms in the Super GT3 class - the Aston Martin, BMW M6 and Nissan GT-R Nismo.

Solaris's Vantage will now benefit from a reduced minimum weight from 1265kg to 1245kg and an increase in restrictor size from 41.5mm to 42mm.

The 48min + 1 lap Race 1 starts at 15:00Hrs local on Saturday 28th with Race 2 at 11:30Hrs local on Sunday 30th. Both races are streamed via the Italian GT website HERE
