Turner to complete ELMS season with Beechdean AMR

Thursday, May 26, 2016

Aston Martin Racing factory driver Darren Turner will continue his assault on the European Le Mans Series with Andrew Howard, Alex Macdowall and Beechdean AMR for the rest of the 2016 season.

Turner, who was originally substituting for fellow Aston Martin Racing factory driver Jonny Adam, has come to an agreement in recent days to continue leading Beechdean AMR's GTE squad. Adam, who currently leads the British GT GT3 class and is 2nd in the Blancpain GT endurance Pro-Am class, will switch his focus to these series, as well as his FIA World Endurance Championship commitments.

“Originally there were no plans for me to race in the European Le mans Series this year but a clash of dates for Jonny (Adam) meant that I jumped in for the Silverstone and Imola rounds”, commented Turner. “The programme has now been extended for the full season which I’m excited about, especially as we are leading the championship. I’m looking forward to working with Andrew and Alex and all of the Beechdean AMR team for the full season.”

Team boss and driver Andrew Howard said in regards to the announcement, “It will be great having Darren Turner in the car for the rest of the season, his experience has really helped at the first two rounds. I wish Jonny all the best with his assault on 3 massive championships”

The #99 Beechdean Aston Martin Racing V8 GTE car currently holds a slender advantage in the European Le Mans Series GTE title race. The Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, hosts the third round of the championship.

The GTE will be in action next at the blue ribbon Le Mans 24 hour race on 15/19th June.
