Beechdean AMR Austria bound for Rd 3 of ELMS

Multiple British GT championships winners Beechdean Aston Martin Racing (AMR), will travel to south east Austria this weekend to resume the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) after a nine week summer break.

The gap in the ELMS season is scheduled in order to accommodate the Le Mans 24 hour race but it has also allowed the competing ELMS teams time to reflect on the first two races and make plans and preparations for the remainder of the season. Andrew Howard, Darren Turner and Alex MacDowall, drivers of the #99 Beechdean Aston Martin Vantage V8 GTE car, hold a slender point’s advantage and will look to continue their early season form at the Red Bull Ring.

The 4.326 km circuit is nestled in the beautiful hills of Spielberg in the Styria Mountains and offers spectators great viewing opportunities in a spectacular, scenic and unique environment. The Red Bull Ring features three long straights allowing drivers to slipstream their rivals and attempt an overtake into turns one, two and three.

Beechdean AMR team owner and driver Andrew Howard, fresh from his debut Le Mans 24 Hour finish commented, “I am looking forward to driving for the first time at the Red Bull Ring. The circuit feels great on the simulator and the track should certainly offer excitement over the course of the four hour race on Sunday.”

MacDowall, who is also facing his first race at the Red Bull Ring said “I am really excited to be going to what is a new circuit for both me and the team. It is also great to know Darren will be driving with us for rest of the season, as I feel the three of us work well together. The fast corners of the Red Bull Ring should suit the car and my driving style.”

“We have had a long break since Imola so it will be good to get stated again in ELMS” stated Aston Martin racing veteran Turner. “I am looking forward to racing again at the Red Bull Ring as I haven’t been there since I raced at the DTM. We are still leading the championship, but it is very close so we need a good result this weekend.”
