Fernando Rees comments on AMR's recent driver restructuring

Sunday, July 10, 2016

Following last weeks announcement from Aston Martin Racing to confirm the driver readjustment of their two WEC GTE Pro entries, Fernando Rees has today published his response to that news in the way he's best - upon social media.

Released via his Instagram just a few minutes ago Rees expresses both his disappointment about the news but also acknowledges the complexities of team management that resulted in both he and Jonny Adam loosing their place within the #97 car.

"Since the team's announcement on Friday I've received hundreds of e-mails and messages from other drivers and co-workers, journalists, sponsors, and curious people alike.

Unfortunately, there's not much to say about it at the moment. The situation apparently left a lot of room for speculation and doubts. But in this sport, which driver gets which drive is obviously never a straightforward matter, and usually has absolutely nothing to do with the drivers themselves.

In any case, #TeamRees was #TeamRees way before this, and it continues to be #TeamRees now and tomorrow. This is just another day in the office.

Thank you for all the love. 💚"

One thing is for sure - he will be sorely missed from the WEC paddock and we wish him all the best.
