Beechdean collect the GT4 spoils at Snetterton

Monday, August 08, 2016

Multiple British GT Championship winning squad, Beechdean Aston Martin Racing (AMR) enjoyed a successful weekend in the sunshine at the Snetterton 300 circuit. The team competed in the seventh and eighth round of the 2016 British GT championship, in what was the penultimate event of the season.

Jack Bartholomew and Aston Martin Racing factory driver Ross Gunn drove in the title challenging #407 Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4 car. Gunning for its third straight GT4 championship win, the duo took second in the seventh round and a win in the eighth round. The pairing were close to making it a double victory at Snetterton, with Gunn falling short of only 0.360 seconds in the first race. In race two the #407 overcame a seven second pit stop success penalty to take a comfortable victory.

“It was great to be a part of the first Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4 win at Snetterton.” Commented championship challenger Bartholomew. “The entire team were awesome all weekend and managed to quickly erase the gremlins we suffered in Saturday practice. This victory was certainly a team effort and I can’t wait for Donington.”

Reigning British GT4 Champion Gunn, who was returning to GT4 for the first time since the end of last year said, “I enjoyed my return to GT4 and assisting with Jacks and Beechdean’s assault on the title. Both races were near faultless from all of the guys and it was fantastic to be back on the podium.”

On the opposite side of the garage, celebrity baker Paul Hollywood and reigning British GT4 Champion Jamie Chadwick had a weekend to remember. The #408 Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4 car they were driving performed explicitly. The result gave the drivers the chance to push on for their first points of the season, finishing in sixth place. This was a real milestone for the pairing, with both Chadwick and Hollywood making impressive gains over the course of the weekend.

“It felt like my first proper race dicing with other drivers for position and learning my race craft.” Stated a very satisfied Hollywood. “Huge thanks go to Jamie and all the Beechdean team for their help and support.”

Chadwick was also very pleased with her weekend saying, “Snetterton proved to be an excellent weekend for Paul and me. It was the first time we have properly raced together. The two shorter races gave us and the team valuable experience. We were looking for two solid results, so to only miss out on fifth in race two was beyond our own expectations!”

This weekend’s results for the #407 GT4 will see the championship come down to the wire at Donington, with the last round taking place on the 11th of September. Beechdean AMR have confirmed that Ross Gunn and Jack Bartholomew will continue their partnership at Donington for the final race of the championship.
