Qualifying sets us up for two great races in British GT from Spa
Friday, July 07, 2017
With the unusual timetable of the British GT Championship's visit to Spa Francorchamps throwing many people (including ourselves) out of sync, the result of qualifying from earlier today still paves the way for two very exciting races tomorrow.
Riding on a wave of consistency, the #24 MacMillan racing GT3 of Jack Mitchell only narrowly missed out in taking the GT3 pole for Race 1, getting pipped at the end by a much lighter Bentley of Rick Parfitt Jnr. Surprisingly yet very disappointingly, that time set by the #31 Bentley was 2.3 seconds quicker than the fastest TF Sport Vantage of Mark Farmer and a whopping 3.8 seconds fastest than that of Derek Johnston!
Over in GT4 Am, and with three of the twenty GT4 entries not setting a time in this session top honours for TeamAMR went to the #42 MacMillan Racing entry of Will Phillips who qualified in P3 whilst the other GT4 entry of Will Moore and Academy Motorsports was not too far back in P5
For Race 2, tomorrow afternoon, the GT3 Pro grid is something a of reverse mirror image with Jonny Adam in the #1 car being to best AMR runner in P4, with his team mate Jon Barnes in the #11 car in P11 and James Littlejohn in the #24 P12.
In GT4 and with Jan Jonck then behind the wheel in the #42 MacMillan car he too secured top TeamAMR honours with P3 in his class with Matt Nichol-Jones in the #62 Academy car in P7.
Race 1 begins early at 09.20hrs local with Race 2 just after lunch at 13.00hrs local
