Same again in Belgium would go down nicely at TF Sport

Wednesday, July 05, 2017

With the largest field of the season, 34 cars in total, TF Sport are all set for the challenge of Spa-Francorchamps as the British GT Championship prepares for its overseas round in Belgium this weekend.

TF Sport took a sensational victory at Spa last year with Jon Barnes and Mark Farmer. One year on and the #11 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 duo – who have scored points in every round this year – are seeking a repeat of the result as they aim to close the championship gap on their rivals.

“We’re really looking forward to returning to Spa, it holds great memories for us after winning there last year,” said Barnes. “We know it’s a real challenge but we’ve had podiums at Oulton Park and Snetterton already this year, so we’ll be looking to achieve two more of those this Saturday!”

Jonny Adam meanwhile is hot off a fantastic GTE Pro victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Aston Martin Racing as well as a podium in the Blancpain Endurance Cup at Paul Ricard with TF Sport. He returns to the British GT duties chasing a record 12th win in the series alongside #1 teammate Derek Johnston.

“It's nice to return to Spa for the away round of British GT,” said Adam. “The last few weeks have personally been very successful, so I hope we can carry that form onto this weekend. A good few races are now needed to help our championship challenge, but we are confident that we can secure strong results over the next few races.”

For TF Sport, second in the Team’s standings, it has not been the easiest of campaigns to date, but as ever they know they have the talent and resource to fight back over the last four rounds.

“We’ve been through it a bit this year,” said TF Sport Director Tom Ferrier. “But we’re still in the hunt and while we may not have been getting the number of wins we would ideally like, we have been there or thereabouts. Spa is a unique challenge and the result last year was a fantastic one for Jon and Mark. We know what Jonny and Derek can do, so we’re looking forward to the weekend and let’s see if we can take some points from our rivals.”
