Turner needs your support for London Marathon charity run
Monday, January 29, 2018
Darren Turner will swap his race boots for running shoes on April 22nd when he takes on the challenge of the Virgin Money London Marathon. As a proud patron of the Born Free Foundation since 2014, Turner is running to raise money for this global force for wildlife at a time when action is needed more than ever.
My biggest motivation for doing the London Marathon is Born Free,” said Turner. “It is a wonderful organisation that strives to provide a safe and secure future for some of the world’s most magnificent creatures."
Turner first took part in the London Marathon in 2009 and he finished in a steady 4hrs and 12 minutes. He was on target to beat that time at his second attempt in 2010 but ended up two minutes shy when he had to make a pit stop for an emergency blister repair. Eight years on, he is determined to beat the clock!
“It annoys me that I didn’t manage to break the four hour mark,” he said. “This time I have come up with a cunning plan that actually involves proper training as I am determined to see ‘three hours something’ on the timing board when I cross the line.”
“Please please please help me to support the fantastic work of the Born Free Foundation by sending me your spare change via the big red button below!
