British GT Media Day detail

Friday, March 02, 2018

The team and driver attendance list for next week's British GT Media Day from Donington Park has today been published listing just three Aston Martin Racing cars present!

With Thursday 8th March also being the first day of the Aston Martin Racing collective customer test from Portimao, Portugal we will unfortunately only get to see both TF Sport entered V12 Vantage GT3's of Derek Johnston and Mark Farmer along with the latest AMR reveal this week in Graham Davidson with his Jetstream Motorsport team.

As the Portimao test is traditionally used by AMR factory team as their 'launch' into the World Endurance Championship season, that takes out any early chance of us seeing any of their factory drivers (Nicki Thiim/Marco Sorensen/Maxime Martin/ Jonny Adam/Darren Turner) now co-driving in the British GT Championship with TF Sport, Jetstream Motorsport, Optimum Motorsport and Beechdean AMR respectively before the first round of the Championship at Oulton Park at the end of the month.

Also revealed (and also missing from the Media Day) will be the two Academy Motorsport entered V8 Vantage GT4's of Matt Nichol-Jones, Jan Jonck and series newcomer Tom Wood.

Hopefully during the collective AMR test in Portimao we will get final confirmation of any remaining seats and car liveries confirmed before the first round.

What is interesting though is the strength and depth of this new TBA Team with a five car entry spread across the two classes!! Whilst we are not necessarily expecting any more AMR team entries there are obviously teams still out there who haven't yet announced and will be using the Media Day event for that purpose.

Weather of course permitting, the Championship organisers have also revealed the following timetable for the event.

During the day, we recommend that you also keep an ear out for confirmation of the season's entries into the SRO sister series - European GT4 where the marque should also have some familiar entries!!
