Media day - Donington Park

Sunday, March 03, 2019

The British GT Championship Media Day takes place this coming Tuesday at MSV's Donington Park circuit and marks the start of another significant year of Aston Martin Racing customer team involvement in the premier national GT series.

For those of you who live near by or who can take the day off your normal vocational and domestic duties, access to the circuit is free for all the appreciate another capacity grid made up of cutting edge GT3 and GT4 platforms from all marques.

2019 is of course the release of the next generation of race car from the Aston Martin Racing factory in Banbury with the all new turbo charged variants of its extremely successful Vantage platform. No new teams to reveal (we think but can't promise) but all the ones that we have become accustomed to supporting the brand over the years all return but with a sizeable increases in entry levels compared to previous years.

Reigning GT3 Champions Optimum Motorsport return to defend their GT3 crown but with a differing driver line up to last year and this time with two new GT4 entries. Beechdean AMR return to the fray with their usual GT3 entry and a new GT4 entry - doubling their work load and the same with TF Sport who have gone one step further with their (seasonal) two GT3 entry plus two new GT4 entries to boot.

Finally but by no means least is Matt Nichol-Jones' Academy Motorsport team who have to date only declared a single GT4 entry but that WILL change come Tuesday when the final BGT 'offerings' are finally declared - the question here is though is by how many cars?

Lots of new faces, new cars and new liveries - what more isn't there to like. Gates open at 08:30.
