Two become three in Garage 59's Silver Cup AMR

Monday, August 17, 2020

Garage 59 will bolster its driving squad for the remainder of the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup season with the signing of James Pull. The British-Malaysian racer will join Andrew Watson and Valentin Hasse-Clot in the #159 Aston Martin Vantage GT3, competing in the Silver Class.

Watson and Hasse-Clot took second place at the first round at Imola recently but the team never intended for them to remain as a duo. Travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic prevented Pull from joining the team at Imola.

“We need to have complete driving squads from this point on,” said Team Principal Andrew Kirkaldy. “Imola was the only short race on the schedule this year so it was okay for us to run a duo there but the races get a lot longer from here on in. We’re pleased to have James on the team. He fits in perfectly with Andrew and Valentin and provides us with a very strong silver line-up.”

After a strong start in karting, James moved into single-seaters in 2015, which culminated in him becoming BRDC British F3 Vice-Champion and Rookie Champion in 2017. The following year he switched to GT racing, racing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Championship. In 2019 he hit the GT jackpot with a class win at the Total 24 Hours of Spa, on his 24-hour race debut.

“I am delighted to be joining Garage 59 and to be driving the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with such a strong team,” said James. “It has been a difficult six months for everyone and I am most grateful to have the opportunity to race in the GT World Challenge Endurance Series for the remainder of this year.”

James will compete for the first time with Garage 59 at the next round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, at the Nürburgring in Germany on September 6th.
