Ian Lacey Racing audition the new AMR Vantage GT3 in GT World Challenge America

Finally, but certainly by no means least at the weekend we had the Ian Lacey Racing Team audition the Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT3 within the SRO’s GT World Challenge America Series as it too held its opening rounds at Sonoma.

Piloted both by an existing Silver/Bronze partnership moving up from GT4 racing last season in the form of Drew Stavely and Frank Gannett, the lack of preparatory testing saw the two opening ninety-minute races become something of a live test session for the #12 car.

Having only received their new chassis from Prodrive with less than four weeks before shipping out to the first round, the team welcomed a number of AMR factory technicians and mechanics at Sonoma to help them understand the workings of their new car and to help them set it up for the coming season.

Competing in Pro-Am in another multi-class event with full Pro cars up front, it was unsurprising that the most that either driver could do in each race was to hang on to the back of the pack getting that invaluable experience and data before the Series moves onto the Circuit of the Americas in about six week’s time.

By then, the team should have received the remainder of all outstanding equipment orders as well as having time to get in some more valuable testing.

The car looked great and it won’t be long before the team will be pushing up the leader board in Pro-Am!
