TF Sport confirms British GT3 return at Silverstone 500

Thursday, May 27, 2021

Never has an announcement been so welcome to hit our in-box than this morning’s confirmation that TF Sport will indeed be making a return to the British GT Championship this season, albeit for just the blue ribband event at Silverstone at the end of June with not one – but two Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3’s.

Incredibly busy this year with their World Endurance Championship and European Le Mans Series endeavours see’s Tom Ferrier’s team confirm a two-car entry into what will be the second round of the British GT season, at the Silverstone 500 over the weekend of the 26/27th June with four drivers already well known to the team and AMR in general.

Reigning WEC GTE Pro Champion Marco Sorensen makes his first racing return since securing the WEC crown last year in a Vantage GT3 that he will share with Norfolk racer Bonamy Grimes. We will remember Grimes from his Asian Le Mans entry with Red River Sport’s Jonny Mowlem aboard one of TF Sport’s V12 Vantage GT3’s back in 2018 before they progressed up to the WEC themselves last season.

They in turn will be joined by two drivers who competed in this event last year but with different drivers and teams. Today also sees TF Sport confirm that Italian racer Giacomo Petrobelli with partner up with AMR junior driver Charlie Eastwood aboard the team’s second of two Pro-Am entries for the Silverstone 500 after the Italian raced with AMR Academy winner Tom Canning last year.

“It’s good to be back on home soil during a season full of international campaigns,” said team boss Tom Ferrier, “We have proved ourselves in this championship over the years and with two solid driver pairings, it will be interesting to see where we fare amongst this season’s competition. I’m pleased to have both Bon and Giacomo back with the team and we will be pushing for strong results from them both.”

This welcome news takes the expected Aston Martin Racing headcount up to four cars with the full season  entries from Beechdean AMR in GT3 and Newbridge Motorsport in GT4 already taking part.
